How to uninstall Affinity Designer 1 on Mac
Save wanted Designer V1 documents and resources before removing this older edition. The current legacy cask identifies com.seriflabs.affinitydesigner separately from Designer 2 and the Canva-era Affinity app. Close documents and quit V1 before backing up wanted local support contents.
Remove Designer V1
Move Affinity Designer.app from Applications to the Trash after checking the saved documents. Keep other Affinity editions and project files. For a Homebrew V1 installation:
brew uninstall --cask affinity-designer@1
Ordinary removal removes the V1 app. Zap additionally targets Application Support/Affinity Designer, the exact cache and saved state; direct --zap ignores Mole choices. Do not substitute the Designer 2 cask merely because the displayed product name is similar.
ls -ld "/Applications/Affinity Designer.app"
ls -ld "$HOME/Library/Application Support/Affinity Designer"
Printed paths remain. Missing-path errors apply only to these locations; permission errors leave them unknown. These checks do not verify document recovery or other Affinity editions.
What Mole lists
The selected app is checked by default. Display-name support requires review and is unchecked by default, while exact identifier leaves can be checked when present and unprotected. Remove data and settings with apps is off by default and may include eligible reviewed data when enabled; keep wanted documents and shared resources unselected.
What this test covered
The official V1 app was removed with source-built Mole on October 3, 2026. Launch stopped at its loader without reaching an interactive first-run screen; only the app was listed and removed. Document editing, populated user-data recovery, Status and Homebrew-managed uninstall were not tested.
