How to uninstall Affinity on Mac
Save editable Affinity documents and wanted presets before removal, then close documents and quit the app. This page covers the Canva-era com.canva.affinity app, distinct from Designer, Photo and Publisher V1/V2. Keep project files at their actual locations; application data is not a substitute for those documents.
Remove this Affinity edition
Move Affinity.app from Applications to the Trash after checking saved files. For Homebrew, the current affinity cask supports:
brew uninstall --cask affinity
Ordinary removal removes this app. Zap also targets support, caches, thumbnail/other identifier-pattern containers and scripts, exact HTTP/preferences/WebKit/recent-document data, and its team-prefixed group container/scripts. Direct --zap ignores Mole selections and may remove data a group guard retained; verify backup and independent ownership first.
ls -ld "/Applications/Affinity.app"
ls -ld "$HOME/Library/Group Containers/5HD2ARTBFS.com.canva.affinity"
Printed paths remain. Missing-path errors apply only to those locations; permission errors leave them unknown. These checks do not establish that documents or other Affinity editions were removed.
What Mole lists
The selected app and exact identifier leaves are normally checked when present and unprotected. Confirmed own bundled thumbnail extension containers/scripts can be checked by default. The team-prefixed group needs review, remains unchecked by default and is not automatically selected by the optional data setting. Its deletion still checks ownership. Remove data and settings with apps is off by default; shared groups and other editions remain separate.
What this test covered
The official app and selected local data were removed with source-built Mole on October 3, 2026. Group container and scripts were retained because exclusive ownership could not be confirmed. Document recovery, populated preset restoration and Homebrew-managed uninstall were not tested.
