Uninstall Affinity Designer 2 on Mac

Save Designer 2 documents and any custom brushes or assets before removing the older Serif app. This is not the newer unified Affinity app. The September 19, 2026 record covers the app copied from the official package.

Quit and remove the app

Quit Affinity Designer 2 and move that app alone to Trash. Keep Photo 2, Publisher 2 and their shared resources if you still use them; manage the Designer 2 license separately from deleting the app. The official page has more product information.

Review the app’s data

The recorded Designer 2 folder ~/Library/Application Support/Affinity Designer 2 is a display-name match and may contain reusable settings. The current cask now lists newer com.canva.affinity data instead; do not apply those paths to this older test.

If you installed it with Homebrew

The current Homebrew affinity cask packages a different Affinity generation from the Designer 2 app in this test. Do not use its uninstall or zap command for the older app. Its zap list names ~/Library/Application Support/Affinity and com.canva.affinity paths; neither proves ownership of Designer 2 data.

Check the result

These commands inspect the running process and one relevant location. They do not remove anything:

ls -ld "$HOME/Library/Application Support/Affinity Designer 2"

No pgrep match means no process with that name is running; a match needs identification before quitting anything. A listed path still exists, while an ls “No such file” error means only that exact path is absent. A permission error is inconclusive.

What Mole lists

Mole lists Application Support/Affinity Designer 2 for review and leaves it unchecked. The newer com.canva.affinity files and other installed Affinity apps were outside this Designer 2 test.

What this test covered

On September 19, 2026, the tested app was Affinity Designer 2 version 2.6.5 copied from its official package. The display-name Application Support folder was not selected by default; Photo 2, Publisher 2 and the newer unified app were not part of this test.
