How to uninstall A-Zippr on Mac

Keep archives, extracted files and any passwords you need before removing A-Zippr. The vendor's archive utility works on files you choose; uninstalling the Mac App Store app does not require deleting those files. Save wanted app settings before clearing its sandbox data.

    Quit, back up and remove

Wait for compression or extraction to finish, verify the output files and keep their passwords privately. Quit A-Zippr and any running Zippr helper, then copy the existing container below to an independent private backup and verify it before deleting local state. In Finder, move A-Zippr.app from Applications to the Trash. Check System Settings › General › Login Items & Extensions for an unwanted Zippr entry.

    Review recorded app data

These exact locations were present in the recorded App Store installation; open them with Finder's Go › Go to Folder:

    • ~/Library/Containers/com.appyogi.zippr: the main sandbox data, keep until the backup is verified.
    • ~/Library/Application Scripts/com.appyogi.zippr: the app's sandbox scripts support.
    • ~/Library/Containers/com.appyogi.zippr.zippr-extn and ~/Library/Application Scripts/com.appyogi.zippr.zippr-extn: the bundled Finder extension's data and scripts support.
    • ~/Library/Group Containers/F29CBJHU28.compress.filepaths and ~/Library/Application Scripts/F29CBJHU28.compress.filepaths: shared app-group state, keep unless its contents and exclusive ownership are confirmed.

After quitting, move only unwanted confirmed-owned entries to the Trash. Keep parent directories and your original archives. Missing entries need no action.

    Check the result

    pgrep -ifl 'A-Zippr|Zippr-Helper'
    ls -ld "$HOME/Library/Containers/com.appyogi.zippr" "$HOME/Library/Group Containers/F29CBJHU28.compress.filepaths"

No process match means this pattern found no matching arguments, not that every differently named helper is absent. Identify a surviving match before quitting it. A printed folder still exists, expected if retained; a missing-path error means that exact folder is absent. Permission or command errors leave the result unknown, and folder existence does not verify backup recovery.

    What Mole lists

The main container and scripts folder are selected by default. The confirmed bundled Finder extension has the app's own identifier prefix, so its container and scripts folder are selected by default too. Uncheck wanted data after backing it up. The shared group and its scripts folder require individual review; the default-off Remove data and settings with apps option does not automatically select these shared rows, and deletion still requires confirmed ownership.

    What this test covered

The Mac App Store edition was removed on September 21 and retested on September 26, 2026. In the later run, A-Zippr 2.1 and selected main/extension data were removed, while the app group and its scripts folder were kept when exclusive ownership could not be confirmed. Archive creation, stored-password recovery and a populated-data restore were not tested.

If Mac apps leave files behind after uninstalling, try Mole. I've personally tested and inspected 799 Mac apps.
