How to uninstall AdsPower Global on Mac

AdsPower Global is a multi-profile browser from AdsPower that runs each profile in its own copy of a bundled browser, SunBrowser. Its caching guide says each profile keeps cookies, history, extensions, LocalStorage and IndexedDB in its own cache folder, and that this cache is stored locally by default. If a profile is not synced to the cloud, its local cache is the only copy of its logins, so back it up before you remove anything. AdsPower Global keeps its data, including the downloaded browser kernels, in ~/Library/Application Support/adspower_global, which held 850 MB on the test Mac. This guide covers the AdsPower Global app on Apple silicon. No Homebrew cask for it was found.

Back up profiles and quit the app

    1. In AdsPower, choose File › Cache, or Settings › Local Settings › Cache settings, to see where profile caches are stored on this Mac, and back up the profiles you want to keep. The vendor warns that deleting cache cannot be undone and resets website logins.
    2. Close every open profile window. Each one is a SunBrowser process started from AdsPower's kernel folder.
    3. Quit AdsPower Global from its menu or press Command + Q. In the test it ignored the quit request. If it is still running, press Option + Command + Esc, select AdsPower Global and click Force Quit.
    4. Open Finder, go to Applications and drag AdsPower Global to the Trash.

The app registered no login item or launch agent in the test.

    Where the data lives

Press Shift + Command + G in Finder to open each path. Skip any path that is not on your Mac.

Location What it holds What to do
~/Library/Application Support/adspower_global AdsPower's data folder; cwd_global inside it holds one browser kernel per major version, such as chrome_153, each with its own SunBrowser.app of about 790 MB Back up the profiles you want first, then remove. Mole lists it for review and does not select it.

AdsPower keeps profile caches wherever its cache settings point. If that folder is outside adspower_global, open it from step 1 and decide on it separately; Mole does not list a folder it cannot tie to AdsPower.

    Check the result

pgrep -il -e adspower -e sunbrowser
    ls -ld "$HOME/Library/Application Support/adspower_global"

    • No output from pgrep means neither AdsPower nor one of its profile browsers is running. A printed line is a process still alive; quit it in Activity Monitor before you delete its files.
    • A path printed by ls still exists. A surviving adspower_global is expected if you kept it for its profiles. No such file or directory means the folder is gone.

    Account and subscription

Removing the app does not cancel an AdsPower subscription, delete your account or remove profile data you synced to the cloud. Handle those in your AdsPower account.

    If you keep AdsPower

AdsPower downloads a new kernel folder for each new browser major version and leaves the older ones in cwd_global. Mole's Clean page lists, per kernel family (chrome_ and flower_), every kernel below the newest major for review and keeps the newest one. A profile pinned to an old kernel downloads it again the next time it opens. Mole holds these rows while AdsPower or any of its browsers is running.

    What Mole lists

Mole selects the app and the rows it ties to AdsPower Global by its bundle ID. It lists ~/Library/Application Support/adspower_global for review without selecting it, because it holds the browser kernels and can hold profile data.

These defaults assume “Remove data and settings with apps” in General › Cleaning is off. With it on, check the adspower_global row's checkbox before you continue.

    What this test covered

On October 20, 2026, the test removed AdsPower Global 8.9.23 for Apple silicon, already installed on the test Mac, with a source-built Mole with every review row ticked. The app ignored the quit request and was force quit, its helper was stopped again from the Trash, and Mole moved 16 rows and the app to the Trash, adspower_global included. A randomly named 372 MB folder in the user temporary directory was not claimed, because nothing in its name ties it to AdsPower. Status showed one AdsPower Global row with 13 processes. The app ships an Electron update feed; no update was run. A fresh install from AdsPower's download page, cloud-synced profiles, a separate profile cache location and Mole's notarized release build were not tested.

If Mac apps leave files behind after uninstalling, try Mole. I've personally tested and inspected 851 Mac apps.
