How to uninstall Wispr Flow on Windows
Wispr Flow keeps your dictation history, meeting notes, recordings and transcripts, settings and signed-in session on this PC, and Wispr's own removal guide warns that deleting Flow's data folders can permanently remove local transcripts and other unsynced content. Save anything you need before you go further than removing the app. This guide covers Wispr Flow installed per-user from the installer on wisprflow.ai.
Quit Wispr Flow first
Quit Flow from its tray icon, then open Task Manager (Ctrl+Shift+Esc) and end any Wispr Flow.exe or Wispr Flow Helper.exe still listed; it runs about ten of them. Flow starts at sign-in through a shortcut in your Startup folder, which shows up as Wispr Flow in Settings › Apps › Startup.
Remove the app with its own uninstaller
Go to Settings › Apps › Installed apps, find Wispr Flow, and choose Uninstall. The uninstaller removes the program and the desktop and Start Menu shortcuts. In this test part of the program folder %LOCALAPPDATA%\WisprFlow was still there afterwards, and the uninstaller left the data folder, the startup shortcut, the wispr-flow:// link registration and an empty Start Menu folder named Wispr AI.
Where the data lives
| Location | What it holds | What to do |
|---|---|---|
%APPDATA%\Wispr Flow |
Local dictation history (flow.sqlite), meetings, recordings and transcripts, settings and your signed-in session, plus caches and logs |
Copy out what you need first; Wispr warns deletion can be permanent |
%LOCALAPPDATA%\WisprFlow |
What remains of the program folder | Safe to remove once the uninstall has finished |
%APPDATA%\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Startup\Wispr Flow.lnk |
The startup shortcut, now pointing at the removed program | Safe to remove |
%APPDATA%\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Wispr AI |
An empty Start Menu folder | Safe to remove |
HKCU\Software\Classes\wispr-flow |
The wispr-flow:// link registration |
Safe to remove once the app is gone |
A hash-named folder under %LOCALAPPDATA%\Sentry |
A crash report cache Flow's error reporter wrote; other apps using the same reporter share %LOCALAPPDATA%\Sentry |
Leave the Sentry folder itself alone; remove a subfolder only if you know it is Flow's |
Wispr's guide also names wispr-flow-updater and older WisprFlow or wispr-flow folders under %APPDATA% and %LOCALAPPDATA%; they did not appear in this test, but check for them if you have used Flow for a while.
Check the result
Run these read-only commands after the uninstall finishes:
Get-Process "Wispr Flow", "Wispr Flow Helper" -ErrorAction SilentlyContinue
Test-Path "$env:LOCALAPPDATA\WisprFlow"
Test-Path "$env:APPDATA\Wispr Flow"
Test-Path "$env:APPDATA\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Startup\Wispr Flow.lnk"
Test-Path HKCU:\Software\Classes\wispr-flow
- No output from

Account and subscription
Uninstalling does not cancel a Flow subscription or delete your Wispr account. Manage those in your account settings.

- The
wispr-flow://link registration is selected by default and backed up to a.regfile before removal. - A row grouping Windows' own records of when you opened the program is selected by default.

What this test covered
Tested on September 29, 2026 with Wispr Flow 1.6.957 from the installer on wisprflow.ai, per-user scope, installed from an elevated session on an ARM64 virtual machine. The uninstaller is Squirrel and ran silently. Every listed row was ticked and removed in this test; the Wispr AI folder and the Sentry crash cache stayed. Not verified: signing in, dictation, and what a signed-in data folder holds.
