How to uninstall EZVIZ Studio on Windows
EZVIZ Studio (萤石云视频) keeps your cameras, recordings in the cloud and account with EZVIZ, so removing the Windows app does not delete them. Recordings or snapshots you saved to this PC stay in the folder you chose; check where the app saves them before you remove it. The installer also adds two helper programs, update_server and status_check, as their own entries in Installed apps, and one of them stays behind. This guide covers EZVIZ Studio installed machine-wide from the official installer on ys7.com.
Quit EZVIZ Studio first
Close the window and quit from the tray icon if it has one, then check Task Manager (Ctrl+Shift+Esc). EZVIZ Studio asks for administrator access when it starts. The installer also starts a background updater, SPUpDateServer.exe, that keeps running on its own and starts at sign-in through the SPUpDateServerrun entry in Settings › Apps › Startup.
Remove the app with its own uninstaller
- Go to Settings › Apps › Installed apps, find Ezviz Studio, and choose Uninstall. Because it is installed for all users, Windows asks for administrator approval.
- Back in Installed apps, look for
update_server. In this test it was still installed after EZVIZ Studio was gone, with its startup entry. Uninstall it too if no other Hikvision or EZVIZ software on this PC needs it.status_checkwent with EZVIZ Studio in this test; remove it too if it is still listed.
The installer also added Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 and 2013 runtimes. Other apps use them, so leave them.
Where the data lives
| Location | What it holds | What to do |
|---|---|---|
%ProgramFiles(x86)%\Ezviz Studio |
Program files | The uninstaller removes it |
%ProgramFiles(x86)%\hik\update_server and %ProgramFiles(x86)%\hicloud\update_server |
The background updater | Remove with the update_server entry in Installed apps |
%USERPROFILE%\shipin7_update_temp |
Temporary update files | Safe to remove once the app is gone |
| Visual C++ 2008 and 2013 runtimes in Installed apps | Runtimes other apps use too | Leave them |
Check the result
Run these read-only commands after the uninstall finishes:
Get-Process SPUpDateServer -ErrorAction SilentlyContinue
Test-Path "${env:ProgramFiles(x86)}\Ezviz Studio"
Test-Path "${env:ProgramFiles(x86)}\hik\update_server"
Test-Path "$env:USERPROFILE\shipin7_update_temp"
Get-ItemProperty "HKLM:\Software\WOW6432Node\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run" -Name SPUpDateServerrun -ErrorAction SilentlyContinue
Get-Processlisting a process means the background updater is still running; uninstallupdate_serveror end it in Task Manager.Test-Pathon theEzviz Studiofolder returningFalsemeans the program folder is gone.Test-Pathonhik\update_serverreturningTruemeans the updater is still installed.Test-Pathonshipin7_update_tempreturningTruemeans the temporary update files are still there and can go.Get-ItemPropertyreturning values means the entry remains. With no output, check for permission or other query errors before deciding that it is absent.
Account
Uninstalling does not delete your EZVIZ account, unbind your cameras, or cancel a cloud recording plan.
What Mole lists
For EZVIZ Studio installed machine-wide:
- The program folder goes with the app row, and both Start Menu shortcuts and the desktop shortcut are selected by default.
update_serveris not part of EZVIZ Studio's review; it shows as an app of its own in Mole's Apps list, and its sign-in entry shows in Mole's Startup list.%USERPROFILE%\shipin7_update_tempis not listed; check it and remove it yourself.- The Visual C++ runtimes are not listed.
What this test covered
Tested on September 26, 2026 with EZVIZ Studio installed machine-wide from the official installer on an ARM64 test VM. The app asked for administrator access at start and its processes were not recorded. Every listed row was ticked and removed in this test. Not verified: signing in, cameras and local recordings.
