How to uninstall Eudic on Windows
Eudic (欧路词典) keeps your local dictionaries, study records and settings in its own data folders, apart from the program. If you use a Eudic account, sync your word lists first; otherwise copy the Francochinois\eudic folders listed below before you remove anything. This guide covers Eudic installed machine-wide with the vendor's installer from the EuSoft.Eudic winget manifest.
Quit Eudic first
Quit Eudic from its tray icon, not just the window. It runs eudic.exe, several QtWebEngineProcess.exe helpers and the quick lookup tool LightPeek.exe; check Task Manager (Ctrl+Shift+Esc) that none of them is still listed before you uninstall. Eudic added no startup item in this test.
Remove the app with its own uninstaller
Go to Settings › Apps › Installed apps, find 欧路词典, and choose Uninstall, or run:
winget uninstall --id EuSoft.Eudic
The uninstaller asks for administrator access, since Eudic was installed for all users. It always shows its own window, even when started silently, and waits for you. The window has a box, 同时删除本地词库与设置 (also delete local dictionaries and settings), which is unticked; leave it unticked to keep your data, then confirm and click 完成 (Finish) at the end.
Where the data lives
| Location | What it holds | What to do |
|---|---|---|
Program Files\eudic |
Program files | The uninstaller removes them; an empty folder may stay, which is safe to remove |
%LOCALAPPDATA%\Francochinois\eudic |
Local dictionaries, study data and caches | Back it up if you want your data after a reinstall; otherwise remove it |
%APPDATA%\Francochinois\eudic |
Settings | Back it up with the folder above, or remove it |
HKCU\Software\Francophonie\Eudic |
Customer information for the installed copy | Safe to remove once Eudic is gone |
HKCU\Software\Classes\eudic |
The eudic:// link |
Safe to remove once Eudic is gone |
| Public Start Menu folder and desktop shortcut | Shortcuts for all users | The uninstaller removes the desktop shortcut; the Start Menu folder stayed in this test |
Check the result
Run these read-only commands after the uninstall finishes:
Get-Process eudic, LightPeek -ErrorAction SilentlyContinue
winget list --id EuSoft.Eudic
Test-Path "$env:ProgramFiles\eudic"
Test-Path "$env:LOCALAPPDATA\Francochinois\eudic"
Test-Path "$env:APPDATA\Francochinois\eudic"
Test-Path "HKCU:\Software\Classes\eudic"
- No output from
Get-Processonly means this query observed no matching process; a suppressed error leaves the running state unknown. - A completed
winget listquery with no match means the package record is gone; a matching row means the uninstall did not finish, often because the uninstaller's window is still waiting. Test-Path "$env:ProgramFiles\eudic"returningTruemeans the folder is still there; if it is empty, remove it.- The two
Francochinoisfolders returningTruemean your dictionaries and settings are still there, which is expected unless you removed them yourself. Test-Path "HKCU:\Software\Classes\eudic"returningTruemeans the link still points at the removed program.
Account
Uninstalling does not delete your Eudic account, your synced word lists or a paid membership. Manage those from your account.
What Mole lists
For Eudic installed machine-wide with the vendor's installer:
- The program folder goes with the app row. The public Start Menu folder, the public desktop shortcut and a row grouping Windows' own records of when you opened the program are selected by default.
- The
eudic://link is selected by default when it still points at the removed program, and backed up to a.regfile before removal. - Mole starts Eudic's uninstaller, whose window you finish yourself.
%LOCALAPPDATA%\Francochinois\eudic,%APPDATA%\Francochinois\eudicandHKCU\Software\Francophonie\Eudicare not listed; back them up or remove them yourself after the uninstall.
What this test covered
Tested on 2026-09-28 with Eudic 26.9.1.0 installed machine-wide from the vendor's installer in the winget manifest, without signing in. The silent uninstall opened Eudic's own window, which the test did not answer, so Mole reported the app as still installed and skipped every listed row. Pressing Enter in that window with the data box unticked then removed the program and its entry; the public Start Menu folder and the eudic:// link stayed. Not verified: a signed-in account, downloaded dictionaries, or ticking the data box.
