How to uninstall Ximalaya on Windows
Ximalaya's desktop app keeps its data in a folder named after its Chinese display name, %APPDATA%\喜马拉雅, separate from the program. Your subscriptions and listening history live in your Ximalaya account, but check the app's download folder for anything you saved for offline listening before you remove it. This guide covers Ximalaya installed machine-wide from the Ximalaya.Ximalaya winget package.
Quit Ximalaya first
Ximalaya adds two startup items: a sign-in entry that starts 喜马拉雅.exe --autorun, shown in Settings › Apps › Startup, and a scheduled task, ximalaya-message-push-onstart, that shows in Mole's Startup list. Quit the app from its tray icon, since closing the window may only hide it, then check Task Manager (Ctrl+Shift+Esc) for any 喜马拉雅 process still listed. The app runs several processes.
Remove the app with its own uninstaller
Go to Settings › Apps › Installed apps, find 喜马拉雅, and choose Uninstall, or run:
winget uninstall --id Ximalaya.Ximalaya
The package installs machine-wide, so Windows asks for administrator access. The uninstaller removes the program files, both startup items and the Start Menu folder.
Where the data lives
| Location | What it holds | What to do |
|---|---|---|
%APPDATA%\喜马拉雅 |
The app's data, sign-in state and settings | Remove it for a clean start; keep it if you are reinstalling soon |
Cache, Code Cache, Crashpad, GPUCache and logs inside it |
Caches, crash reports and logs | Safe to remove |
%APPDATA%\Ximalaya SetUp and %ProgramData%\Ximalaya SetUp |
Small installer folders with an install id, a tracking file and logs | Safe to remove |
%ProgramFiles(x86)%\ximalaya |
The empty program folder the uninstaller leaves | Empty; remove it yourself if you like, which needs administrator access |
| Firewall rules for Ximalaya | Network access rules the app added | Remove them in Windows Defender Firewall if you want; they do nothing once the program is gone |
Check the result
Run these read-only commands after the uninstall finishes:
Get-Process 喜马拉雅 -ErrorAction SilentlyContinue
winget list --id Ximalaya.Ximalaya
Test-Path "$env:APPDATA\喜马拉雅"
Test-Path "$env:APPDATA\Ximalaya SetUp"
Test-Path "$env:ProgramData\Ximalaya SetUp"
Get-NetFirewallApplicationFilter | Where-Object Program -like "*ximalaya*"
- No output from
Get-Processonly means this query observed no matching process; a suppressed error leaves the running state unknown. - A completed
winget listquery with no match means the package record is gone; a matching row means the uninstall did not finish. Test-Path "$env:APPDATA\喜马拉雅"returningTruemeans the app's data is still there, which is expected unless you removed it yourself.- The two
Ximalaya SetUpchecks returningTruemean the installer folders are still there; nothing in them needs a backup. - Lines from the last command are firewall rules still pointing at the removed program.
If you installed it with winget
winget uninstall runs the same silent uninstaller Settings › Apps uses and removes the same program files; it does not touch %APPDATA%\喜马拉雅 or the Ximalaya SetUp folders.
Account and membership
Uninstalling does not cancel a Ximalaya VIP membership or sign you out of your account on other devices.
What Mole lists
For Ximalaya installed machine-wide from winget:
- The Start Menu folder is selected by default; in this test the uninstaller had already deleted it.
%APPDATA%\喜马拉雅is listed but not selected, since it holds your sign-in state and settings. TheCache,Code Cache,Crashpad,GPUCacheandlogsfolders inside it are listed on their own and selected by default.- The two firewall rules are reported in the result, not removed.
- The
Ximalaya SetUpfolders and the emptyximalayaprogram folder are not listed. Check them after the uninstall and remove them yourself.
What this test covered
Tested on September 28, 2026 with Ximalaya 4.0.15 installed through winget, machine scope, and removed with its silent uninstaller. The app was opened once. Not verified: a signed-in account, or audio downloaded for offline listening.
