How to uninstall X Studio on Windows
NetEase Cloud Music X Studio keeps your .svip3 projects wherever you saved them, and removing the app does not touch them. Its own settings and local data live in a folder named after XiaoIce, the studio behind the singing engine, which neither the uninstaller nor Mole finds by the app's name, so back it up or remove it yourself. This guide covers X Studio installed machine-wide from the NetEase.CloudMusicXStudio winget package, which puts it in %ProgramFiles(x86)%\NetEase Cloud Music XStudio.
Quit X Studio first
Save your projects and close the window, then check Task Manager (Ctrl+Shift+Esc) for any X Studio process still listed. It adds no startup entry.
Remove the app with its own uninstaller
Go to Settings › Apps › Installed apps, find 网易云音乐·X Studio, and choose Uninstall, or run:
winget uninstall --id NetEase.CloudMusicXStudio
Windows asks for administrator access, since the app is installed for all users.
Where the data lives
| Location | What it holds | What to do |
|---|---|---|
%ProgramFiles(x86)%\NetEase Cloud Music XStudio |
Program files | The uninstaller left it in this test; remove it after the uninstall |
%APPDATA%\XiaoIce\X Studio3 |
The app's settings and local data | Back it up if you might reinstall; otherwise remove it, and then %APPDATA%\XiaoIce if it is empty |
HKCU\Software\Classes\XStudioFile |
The file type registration for X Studio projects | Safe to remove once the app is gone |
HKCU\Software\Classes\.svip3 |
The .svip3 extension key |
Shared by any app that opens the type; leave it |
| Two Windows Defender Firewall rules for the X Studio program | Rules the app added on first network use | Left by the uninstaller; remove them in Windows Defender Firewall with Advanced Security if you like, which needs an administrator |
Check the result
Run these read-only commands after the uninstall finishes:
Get-Process | Where-Object { $_.Path -like "*XStudio*" }
winget list --id NetEase.CloudMusicXStudio
Test-Path "${env:ProgramFiles(x86)}\NetEase Cloud Music XStudio"
Test-Path "$env:APPDATA\XiaoIce\X Studio3"
Test-Path HKCU:\Software\Classes\XStudioFile
- If the first command succeeds without suppressed errors, no output means X Studio is not running.
- A completed
winget listquery with no match means the package record is gone; a matching row means the uninstall did not finish. - The first
Test-PathreturningTruemeans program files remain;Falsemeans the folder is gone. Test-Path "$env:APPDATA\XiaoIce\X Studio3"returningTruemeans the app's data is still there; it stays until you remove it yourself.- The last
Test-PathreturningTruemeans the file type registration is still there.
If you installed it with winget
winget uninstall runs the same uninstaller Settings › Apps uses and leaves the same things behind.
Account and membership
Uninstalling does not cancel an X Studio or NetEase Cloud Music membership or sign you out of your NetEase account.
What Mole lists
For X Studio installed machine-wide from winget:
- The program folder goes with the app row, together with a row grouping Windows' own records of when you opened the program, selected by default.
- The Start Menu shortcut is selected by default.
- The
XStudioFilefile type registration, still pointing at the removed program, is selected by default and backed up to a.regfile before removal. - The two firewall rules are reported after the uninstall but not removed.
%APPDATA%\XiaoIce\X Studio3is not listed; check it and remove it yourself after the uninstall.- The shared
.svip3extension key is left alone.
What this test covered
Tested on 2026-09-28 with X Studio 1.2.5 installed through winget, machine scope, on an ARM64 virtual machine. Its Inno Setup uninstaller ran silently. Every listed row was ticked and removed in this test. Not verified: a signed-in account, saved projects and downloaded voices.
