How to uninstall Wacom Tablet Driver on Windows
Removing the Wacom driver resets how your pen and tablet behave, not your drawings: your artwork lives in the apps and folders you save it to. Custom pen buttons, ExpressKeys and mapping are the part worth keeping, so use the backup option in Wacom's own settings app before you uninstall if you want them back later. This guide covers the Wacom Tablet Driver installed machine-wide from the Wacom.WacomTabletDriver winget package, and it finishes on the next restart.
Close Wacom's apps first
Close Wacom Center and Wacom Tablet Properties, and any drawing app using the pen. The driver runs as a Windows service, Wacom Professional Service, which shows in Mole's Startup list; the uninstaller stops and removes it. Check Task Manager (Ctrl+Shift+Esc) for Wacom processes still listed before you uninstall.
Remove the driver with its own uninstaller
Go to Settings › Apps › Installed apps, find Wacom Tablet, and choose Uninstall, or run:
winget uninstall --id Wacom.WacomTabletDriver
The driver is installed machine-wide, so Windows asks for administrator access. Wacom's uninstaller opens its own window; its last page asks whether to restart now or later. Some files in Program Files\Tablet\Wacom are only removed during that restart, so restart soon, even if you choose Restart Later.
Where the data lives
| Location | What it holds | What to do |
|---|---|---|
%ProgramFiles%\Tablet\Wacom |
Driver files still in use at uninstall time | Windows removes them at the next restart; leave them until then |
The Wacom Tablet Start Menu folder |
Shortcuts to Wacom's apps | The uninstaller removes it |
Check the result
Restart first, then run these read-only commands:
Get-Service -DisplayName "Wacom*" -ErrorAction SilentlyContinue
winget list --id Wacom.WacomTabletDriver
Test-Path "$env:ProgramFiles\Tablet\Wacom"
- If
Get-Servicesucceeds without suppressed errors, no output means the Wacom service is gone; a listed service means the uninstall did not finish. - A completed
winget listquery with no match means the driver's record is gone; a matching row means the uninstall did not finish. Test-PathreturningFalsemeans the driver files are gone.Truebefore a restart is expected;Trueafter a restart means files remain there.
If you installed it with winget
winget uninstall runs the same Wacom uninstaller Settings › Apps uses, with the same window and the same restart question.
What Mole lists
For the Wacom Tablet Driver installed machine-wide from winget:
- The
Wacom TabletStart Menu folder is selected by default; in this test the uninstaller had already deleted it. - Mole measures the driver at the size Wacom reports for the whole install.
- When Windows still has driver files queued for deletion, Mole shows the uninstall as removed, with "Restart to finish".
What this test covered
Tested on September 26, 2026 with Wacom Tablet Driver 6.4.14-1 installed through winget, machine scope, and removed with Wacom's own uninstaller window, choosing Restart Later on its last page. No tablet was connected, so the driver's own processes and saved pen settings were not checked.
