How to uninstall Ventoy on Windows
Removing Ventoy’s Windows utility does not remove the boot setup on a USB drive. Keep ISO images, persistence files and other files on the USB drive unless you separately intend to retire that drive.
Save your data and quit
Exit Ventoy2Disk after any operation finishes. This uninstall task needs no format, partition deletion or reinstall onto the USB drive. If you also want to repurpose the drive, first copy its files elsewhere and verify the copies; treat that as a separate disk operation.
Uninstall the tested package
In Windows 11, open Settings › Apps › Installed apps, find Ventoy, and choose Uninstall. In Windows 10, use Settings › Apps › Apps & features. Keep the installed program folder intact until its uninstaller finishes. If this was the winget package, first confirm its exact identity:
winget list --id Ventoy.Ventoy --exact
If the successful query shows the intended installation, remove that package:
winget uninstall --id Ventoy.Ventoy --exact
This follows the package’s registered removal method; portable packages use their package-manager removal instead. An error or a missing winget match is not proof that the app is absent: check the Windows app list and the original installation method. Follow any vendor confirmation or restart request after saving other work. See Microsoft’s uninstall command documentation.
Data and components to check
The following locations or components need separate decisions. A remaining folder is not automatically disposable.
| Location or component | What to keep or check |
|---|---|
| Ventoy Windows utility folder | Remove the winget-managed portable package through winget; for a manually extracted copy, first confirm it contains no wanted images or files. |
| Ventoy USB drive | The disk layout and saved images are independent of the Windows utility. Keep them in this task. |
See Ventoy’s official documentation.
Check the outcome
winget list --id Ventoy.Ventoy --exact
A successful package query with no matching row means that package registration was not found. A matching row means it still exists; an error leaves the result unknown. Keep deliberately retained data. Check Task Manager for a process whose executable belongs to this installation, and distinguish another version or a separate companion app before acting.
What Mole lists
The tested portable package produced no separate leftover-review rows. That result describes the host utility, not the partitions or contents of a Ventoy USB device.
What this test covered
Ventoy 1.1.17’s Windows utility was launched and the winget package installed for the current user was removed. Formatting, booting a USB device, persistence recovery and version upgrading were not tested.
These results are from a development build of Mole. Other released builds were not individually tested.
