How to uninstall uv on Windows
This run covers uv 0.12.23 installed through winget as a user-scope portable package, with publisher Astral Software Inc. Other installation channels need their own check.
Remove the program
Find uv in Windows Settings under Installed apps and choose Uninstall. Mole invoked the registered winget uninstall --product-code command in this run. WinGet owns its program folder and command aliases; Mole offered no additional data rows. Projects, Python environments and download caches were not cleaned.
Check the result
Test-Path "$env:LOCALAPPDATA\Microsoft\WinGet\Packages\astral-sh.uv_Microsoft.Winget.Source_8wekyb3d8bbwe"
Test-Path "$env:LOCALAPPDATA\Microsoft\WinGet\Links\uv.exe"
Test-Path "$env:LOCALAPPDATA\Microsoft\WinGet\Links\uvw.exe"
All three were False. Independent checks also found the exact user uninstall registration absent, the post-removal inventory lacked its Id and the snapshot residue difference was empty. Nothing was removed manually.
A successful Test-Path query checks only the named package folder or alias: True means it exists, False means it is absent. A query error is unresolved, and these checks do not inspect projects or Python environments.
What Mole lists
WinGet removes the program and command aliases it installed. Mole does not add projects, Python environments or downloaded caches to this uninstall review.
What this test covered
Tested on October 4, 2026, in a Windows 11 ARM64 VM with a Mole development build. The uv version and WinGet uninstall were checked; the program folder and both command aliases were absent afterward. Projects, Python-environment creation, dependency sync, external-uninstall detection, other installation channels and the released download were not tested.
