How to uninstall Trilium Notes on Windows
This guide covers the official Trilium Notes 0.106.0 Windows ARM64 installer, installed for the current user. The notes database lives in %APPDATA%\trilium-data; copy that entire folder before uninstalling if you want a backup.
Remove the app
Quit Trilium Notes, then uninstall Trilium Notes from Settings › Apps › Installed apps. Its program folder is %LOCALAPPDATA%\trilium.
Check the result
Test-Path 'HKCU:\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\trilium'
Test-Path "$env:LOCALAPPDATA\trilium"
Test-Path "$env:APPDATA\trilium-data\document.db"
Test-Path "$env:APPDATA\trilium-37840"
Test-Path returns False when that exact path is absent and True when it still exists. A data path returning True is expected if you kept your settings or data. If a query reports an error, resolve it before deciding whether the path is absent.
What Mole lists
The program folder, desktop shortcut, Start Menu shortcut and usage records are selected by default. These two personal-data folders start unchecked and are excluded from bulk selection.
| Location | Contents | Treatment |
|---|---|---|
%APPDATA%\trilium-data |
The document.db notes database, configuration and session state |
Keep it to retain notes; back it up before selecting its individual row |
%APPDATA%\trilium-37840 |
Electron client data, settings and caches | Kept by default; select its individual row only to clear it |
What this test covered
Tested on October 6, 2026, in a Windows 11 ARM64 VM with a Mole development build. After the measured bulk uninstall, the registration and program folder returned False, while the notes database and client data returned True. The native Apps list no longer showed the app. This test covered data retained after first launch on this machine; real notes, sync, restoration and a released Mole package were not tested.
