How to uninstall Tiger Trade on Windows
Your brokerage account, positions and orders live with Tiger Brokers, not in the Tiger Trade app, and uninstalling the desktop app changes none of them. What stays on this PC is the app's own data folder with its local settings. This guide covers Tiger Trade installed machine-wide with the installer from itiger.com.
Quit Tiger Trade first
Sign out if you want, then quit Tiger Trade. It runs several processes, TigerTrade.exe, TigerTradeBrowser.exe and TigerTradeService.exe, so check Task Manager (Ctrl+Shift+Esc) for any of them still listed before you uninstall. The installer starts the app on its own when it finishes, so it may be running even if you never opened it.
Remove the app with its own uninstaller
Go to Settings › Apps › Installed apps, find Tiger Trade, and choose Uninstall. The app is installed machine-wide, so Windows asks for administrator access. The uninstaller removes the program folder and the desktop and Start Menu shortcuts.
Where the data lives
| Location | What it holds | What to do |
|---|---|---|
%APPDATA%\TigerTrade |
Local settings and cached app data | Keep it if you are reinstalling soon; remove it for a clean start |
HKCU\SOFTWARE\TigerTrade |
A small settings key | Safe to remove if you are not reinstalling |
tb, tigerbrokersusstock and tigertrade under HKLM\SOFTWARE\Classes |
Link registrations the installer made for the whole machine | Harmless; removing them needs administrator access, so leave them unless you want them gone |
Check the result
Run these read-only commands after the uninstall finishes:
Get-Process TigerTrade* -ErrorAction SilentlyContinue
Test-Path "${env:ProgramFiles(x86)}\TigerTrade"
Test-Path "$env:APPDATA\TigerTrade"
Test-Path "HKCU:\SOFTWARE\TigerTrade"
Test-Path "Registry::HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\tigertrade"
- No output from
Get-Processonly means this query observed no matching process; a suppressed error leaves the running state unknown. - The first
Test-PathreturningFalsemeans the program folder is gone. - The next two returning
Truemean your local settings are still there, which is expected unless you removed them yourself. - The last returning
Truemeans the machine-widetigertradelink key is still there.
Account
Uninstalling does not close your Tiger Brokers account, cancel open orders or sign you out on your phone. Manage those in the app on another device or on Tiger Brokers' website.
What Mole lists
For Tiger Trade installed machine-wide from the vendor installer:
- The program folder goes with the app row. The desktop shortcut, the
Tiger TradeStart Menu folder and a row grouping Windows' own records of when you opened the program are selected by default. %APPDATA%\TigerTradeandHKCU\SOFTWARE\TigerTradeare listed but not selected, since they hold your settings.- The three link keys under
HKLM\SOFTWARE\Classesare not listed.
What this test covered
