How to uninstall TIDAL on Windows
TIDAL keeps your playlists, favorites and subscription with your TIDAL account, so removing the Windows app does not delete them. This guide covers TIDAL installed per-user from the TIDALMusicAS.TIDAL winget package.
Quit TIDAL first
Quit TIDAL from its menu, then check Task Manager (Ctrl+Shift+Esc) for any TIDAL.exe or TIDALPlayer.exe still listed; it runs several processes. TIDAL starts at sign-in through an entry you can see in Settings › Apps › Startup.
Remove the app with its own uninstaller
Go to Settings › Apps › Installed apps, find TIDAL, and choose Uninstall, or run:
winget uninstall --id TIDALMusicAS.TIDAL
It is a per-user install that removes itself quietly, with no questions. In this test it also removed its startup entry and its tidal:// link.
Where the data lives
| Location | What it holds | What to do |
|---|---|---|
%LOCALAPPDATA%\TIDAL |
Program files, including older versions kept for updates | The uninstaller removes it |
%APPDATA%\TIDAL |
Sign-in state, settings and caches | Remove for a clean start; you sign in again after reinstalling |
Two Windows Firewall rules for tidal.exe |
Network permission granted on first run | Remove in Windows Defender Firewall › Advanced settings if you want them gone |
%USERPROFILE%\.nodemid |
A small file that appeared with TIDAL on the test PC; its name does not say which app owns it | Harmless to leave; remove it only if you are sure no other app wrote it |
Check the result
Run these read-only commands after the uninstall finishes:
Get-Process TIDAL* -ErrorAction SilentlyContinue
winget list --id TIDALMusicAS.TIDAL
Test-Path "$env:LOCALAPPDATA\TIDAL"
Test-Path "$env:APPDATA\TIDAL"
Get-NetFirewallRule -DisplayName "*tidal*" -ErrorAction SilentlyContinue
- No output from
Get-Processonly means this query observed no matching process; a suppressed error leaves the running state unknown. - A completed
winget listquery with no match means the package record is gone; a matching row means the uninstall did not finish. Test-Path "$env:LOCALAPPDATA\TIDAL"returningFalsemeans the program folder is gone.Test-Path "$env:APPDATA\TIDAL"returningTruemeans your sign-in state and caches are still there; remove the folder yourself for a clean start.Get-NetFirewallRulelisting rules means the firewall entries are still there; no matching output from a confirmed successful query means they are gone.
If you installed it with winget
winget uninstall runs the same uninstaller Settings › Apps uses; it does not touch %APPDATA%\TIDAL.
Subscription
Uninstalling does not cancel a TIDAL subscription. Manage it in your TIDAL account, or where you paid for it.
What Mole lists
For TIDAL installed per-user from winget:
- The program folder, the desktop shortcut, the Start Menu folder and a row grouping Windows' own records of when you opened the program are selected by default.
%APPDATA%\TIDALis listed but not selected, since it holds your sign-in state and settings. The caches and logs inside it (Cache,Code Cache,GPUCache,Crashpad, logsand the Dawn caches) are listed on their own and selected.- The
tidal://link and theTIDALstartup entry, when they still point at the removed program, are listed, selected, and backed up to a.regfile before removal; in this test the uninstaller had already removed both. - The two firewall rules are named in the result and left in place, since removing them needs an administrator.
%USERPROFILE%\.nodemidis not listed.
What this test covered
Tested on September 28, 2026 with TIDAL 2.43.2 installed through winget, per-user scope, on an ARM64 test VM. The app was opened without signing in. Every listed row was ticked and removed in this test. Not verified: a signed-in account and offline downloads.
