How to uninstall TeamSpeak on Windows
Your TeamSpeak 3 identity is what servers know you by, and it lives only in %APPDATA%\TS3Client together with your bookmarks and settings, unless you back it up to a myTeamSpeak account. Export it before you remove anything: Tools › Identities, select your identity, Export. Losing it means losing the permissions servers granted to it. This guide covers TeamSpeak 3 Client installed per-user from the TeamSpeakSystems.TeamSpeakClient winget package.
Quit TeamSpeak first
Disconnect, then quit from the Connections menu or the tray icon. Check Task Manager (Ctrl+Shift+Esc) for any ts3client_win64.exe still listed. If an overlay such as TeamSpeak Overlay or Overwolf was installed alongside, quit it too: it installs as a separate app and can keep TeamSpeak's folders open.
Remove the app with its own uninstaller
Go to Settings › Apps › Installed apps, find TeamSpeak 3 Client, and choose Uninstall, or run:
winget uninstall --id TeamSpeakSystems.TeamSpeakClient
An overlay installed with it has its own entry in Installed apps; remove it there separately if you do not use it.
Where the data lives
| Location | What it holds | What to do |
|---|---|---|
%LOCALAPPDATA%\Programs\TeamSpeak 3 Client |
Program files | The uninstaller removes it |
%APPDATA%\TS3Client |
Identity, bookmarks, settings database, add-ons, plugins, logs and crash dumps | Export your identity first; keep it if you plan to reinstall |
%LOCALAPPDATA%\TeamSpeak 3 |
The embedded browser's data | Safe to remove |
HKCU\Software\TeamSpeak 3 Client |
App settings | Remove for a clean start |
HKCU\Software\Classes\ts3server, ts3file, ts3addon |
Links that open server addresses, file transfers and add-ons in TeamSpeak | Remove once the app is gone |
Check the result
Run these read-only commands after the uninstall finishes:
Get-Process ts3client* -ErrorAction SilentlyContinue
winget list --id TeamSpeakSystems.TeamSpeakClient
Test-Path "$env:LOCALAPPDATA\Programs\TeamSpeak 3 Client"
Test-Path "$env:APPDATA\TS3Client"
Test-Path "HKCU:\Software\Classes\ts3server"
- No output from
Get-Processonly means this query observed no matching process; a suppressed error leaves the running state unknown. - A completed
winget listquery with no match means the package record is gone; a matching row means the uninstall did not finish. Test-Pathon the program folder returningTrueafter the uninstall means something still had files open there; quit any overlay, restart Windows, and check again.Test-Path "$env:APPDATA\TS3Client"returningTruemeans your identity and settings are still there, which is expected unless you removed them yourself.Test-Pathon thets3serverkey returningFalsemeans the link registration is gone.
If you installed it with winget
winget uninstall runs the same uninstaller Settings › Apps uses; it does not touch %APPDATA%\TS3Client.
Account
Uninstalling does not delete a myTeamSpeak account, any server you rent, or your identity on servers you joined.
What Mole lists
For TeamSpeak 3 Client installed per-user from winget:
- The program folder, the desktop and Start Menu shortcuts, and a row grouping Windows' own records of when you opened the program are selected by default.
- The
ts3server,ts3fileandts3addonlinks are selected by default and backed up to a.regfile before removal. %APPDATA%\TS3Clientand%LOCALAPPDATA%\TeamSpeak 3are listed but not selected, since the first holds your identity.HKCU\Software\TeamSpeak 3 Clientis listed but not selected.- If another process still has one of these folders open, Mole names that process on the row and leaves the folder in place; when the hold is an open file, it tries again in the background for a minute first.
What this test covered
Tested on September 28, 2026 with TeamSpeak 3 Client 3.6.2 installed through winget, per-user scope, on an ARM64 test VM. The test installed it from an elevated session, so its uninstaller asked for administrator access; a normal per-user install does not. The first run left the program folder and %APPDATA%\TS3Client on disk. In the latest recorded rerun, the program folder was already removed, but %APPDATA%\TS3Client remained and was not a review row in that run. Not verified: a myTeamSpeak account and identity restore.
