How to uninstall Stremio on Windows
This guide covers the official Stremio 4.4.181 x86 Windows installer. Exit the client before uninstalling.
Back up settings and data first
After quitting the app, copy any data folder you want to keep to another location and check the copy. These locations were observed in this test; keep your own projects and files separate.
| Location | Contents | What to do |
|---|---|---|
%LOCALAPPDATA%\Smart Code ltd\Stremio |
Client data | Keep for reuse; remove only to reset |
%APPDATA%\stremio |
Client data | Keep for reuse; remove only to reset |
HKCU\SOFTWARE\Smart Code ltd\Stremio |
Client settings | Export this exact key in Registry Editor before resetting it |
Uninstall the app
Uninstall Stremio from Windows Settings. The measured user program folder was %LOCALAPPDATA%\Programs\LNV\Stremio-4.
Check the result
Test-Path "$env:LOCALAPPDATA\Programs\LNV\Stremio-4"
Test-Path "$env:LOCALAPPDATA\Smart Code ltd\Stremio"
Test-Path "$env:APPDATA\stremio"
Test-Path 'HKCU:\SOFTWARE\Smart Code ltd\Stremio'
Test-Path "$env:APPDATA\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Stremio"
Test-Path (Join-Path ([Environment]::GetFolderPath('Desktop')) 'Stremio.lnk')
Test-Path returns False when that exact path is absent and True when it still exists. A data path returning True is expected if you kept your settings or data. If a query reports an error, resolve it before deciding whether the path is absent.
What Mole lists
The application, Qt cache and shortcuts are selected by default. %LOCALAPPDATA%\Smart Code ltd\Stremio, %APPDATA%\stremio and HKCU\SOFTWARE\Smart Code ltd\Stremio are rows listed but not selected by default. Leave them unchecked to keep settings and profile data.
When you select the user settings key, Mole exports it to %LOCALAPPDATA%\Mole\backups before deletion. Publisher parents, the shared Qt cache parent and firewall records remain.
What this test covered
Tested on October 6, 2026, in a Windows 11 ARM64 VM with a Mole development build. This batch selected all three data rows. All six checks returned False, the settings backup containedand the exact uninstall registration and successful process query showed no owned application. Sign-in, media playback, external uninstall and the released Mole package were not tested.
