How to uninstall SonicWall NetExtender on Windows
Record the VPN server and domain information you need before removing NetExtender, and arrange another connection if this VPN is needed to reach the computer. Keep credentials and diagnostic captures private.
Save your data and quit
Disconnect in NetExtender and exit it before uninstalling. On a managed PC, use the organization’s approved removal path. If ordinary removal fails, SonicWall publishes a cleanup tool for its own client; read its current instructions before using it, rather than deleting adapters and registry trees manually.
Uninstall the tested package
In Windows 11, open Settings › Apps › Installed apps, find SonicWall NetExtender, and choose Uninstall. In Windows 10, use Settings › Apps › Apps & features. Keep the installed program folder intact until its uninstaller finishes. If this was the winget package, first confirm its exact identity:
winget list --id SonicWall.NetExtender --exact
If the successful query shows the intended installation, remove that package:
winget uninstall --id SonicWall.NetExtender --exact
This follows the package’s registered removal method; portable packages use their package-manager removal instead. An error or a missing winget match is not proof that the app is absent: check the Windows app list and the original installation method. Follow any vendor confirmation or restart request after saving other work. See Microsoft’s uninstall command documentation.
Data and components to check
The following locations or components need separate decisions. A remaining folder is not automatically disposable.
| Location or component | What to keep or check |
|---|---|
| VPN profiles and credentials | Keep the connection information needed for a later reinstall, according to the organization’s policy. |
| NEService diagnostic logs and captures | Observed outside the offered rows in this test. Retain for troubleshooting if needed; do not assume they are anonymous. |
See SonicWall NetExtender’s official documentation.
Check the outcome
winget list --id SonicWall.NetExtender --exact
A successful package query with no matching row means that package registration was not found. A matching row means it still exists; an error leaves the result unknown. Keep deliberately retained data. Check Task Manager for a process whose executable belongs to this installation, and distinguish another version or a separate companion app before acting.
What Mole lists
The test selected and removed two additional items. Remaining parent directories were not listed as NetExtender-only cleanup targets. Some NEService diagnostics were not listed either, so diagnostic files may remain.
What this test covered
The registered Windows package was removed in the recorded test. Update queries completed without an applicable row, but no upgrade was executed. VPN reconnection, organizational profile recovery and the vendor cleanup tool were not tested.
These results are from a development build of Mole. Other released builds were not individually tested.
