How to uninstall Rocket.Chat on Windows
This run covers Rocket.Chat 4.17.4 installed through elevated winget into the user profile, with publisher Rocket.Chat Support. No account or real workspace was connected.
Close Rocket.Chat before uninstalling and keep a copy of any local data or settings you want to retain.
Remove the program
Find Rocket.Chat in Windows Settings under Installed apps and choose Uninstall. Mole invoked the registered silent NSIS uninstaller in this run. Removal through Settings or external winget was not retested.
Check the result
Test-Path "$env:LOCALAPPDATA\Programs\Rocket.Chat"
Test-Path "$env:LOCALAPPDATA\rocketchat-updater"
Test-Path "$env:APPDATA\Rocket.Chat"
All three were False. Independent checks also found the exact uninstall registration and other reviewed targets absent. No residue was removed manually.
For your own check, a successful Test-Path query returns True when that specific path exists and False when it is absent. A query error leaves the result unresolved; neither result proves that every leftover is gone.
What Mole lists
The program, rocketchat-updater, owned shortcuts, usage records and verified associations are selected by default. %APPDATA%\Rocket.Chat is listed but not selected by default; including app data includes this whole profile.
Separately listed caches and logs are selected by default. The profile may also contain accounts, settings or workspace data, so preserve wanted content before selecting it.
What this test covered
Tested on October 4, 2026, in a Windows 11 ARM64 VM with a Mole development build, covering first launch and uninstall. Sign-in, real workspaces or session retention, other installation channels and the released download were not verified. Automatic detection after an external uninstall was not verified.
