How to uninstall REAPER on Windows
This guide covers the official REAPER 7.82 x64 Windows installer. Save your audio projects and exit REAPER before uninstalling.
Back up settings and data first
After quitting the app, copy any data folder you want to keep to another location and check the copy. These locations were observed in this test; keep your own projects and files separate.
| Location | Contents | What to do |
|---|---|---|
%APPDATA%\REAPER |
Settings, themes and custom resources | Keep for reuse; remove only to reset |
Uninstall the app
Uninstall REAPER from Windows Settings. The measured machine program folder was %ProgramFiles%\REAPER (x64).
Check the result
Test-Path "$env:ProgramFiles\REAPER (x64)"
Test-Path "$env:APPDATA\REAPER"
Test-Path "$env:ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\REAPER (x64)"
Test-Path "$env:PUBLIC\Desktop\REAPER (x64).lnk"
Test-Path returns False when that exact path is absent and True when it still exists. A data path returning True is expected if you kept your settings or data. If a query reports an error, resolve it before deciding whether the path is absent.
What Mole lists
The application, Start Menu and public desktop shortcuts, and usage records are selected by default. %APPDATA%\REAPER is a row listed but not selected by default. Leave it unchecked to keep your REAPER settings and custom resources.
What this test covered
Tested on October 6, 2026, in a Windows 11 ARM64 VM with a Mole development build. This batch selected the settings data row. All four checks returned False, and the exact uninstall registration, native app list and successful process query showed no owned application. The Propellerhead parent held only an empty ReWire folder, and two REAPER firewall records were reported and kept. Audio projects, external uninstall and the released Mole package were not tested.
