How to uninstall Raycast on Windows
Before removing Raycast, save the hotkeys, extension settings, snippets and clipboard items you want to keep. On Windows, Raycast keeps its databases, extensions, index and saved credentials in %LOCALAPPDATA%\Raycast, outside the Store package, so uninstalling the app does not remove them. Copy that folder first if you might reinstall. This guide covers Raycast installed per-user from the Microsoft Store (9PFXXSHC64H3), the same package winget installs. Raycast manual
Quit Raycast first
Quit Raycast from its tray icon, then check Task Manager (Ctrl+Shift+Esc) for any Raycast process still listed. If you turned on Open at Login, Raycast starts through a scheduled task named Raycast Open at Login; turn that setting off in Raycast before you uninstall.
Remove the app
Go to Settings › Apps › Installed apps, find Raycast, and choose Uninstall, or run:
winget uninstall --id 9PFXXSHC64H3
A Store app removes itself for your account without an administrator prompt, and Windows deletes its package data folder along with it. %LOCALAPPDATA%\Raycast stays.
Where the data lives
| Location | What it holds | What to do |
|---|---|---|
%LOCALAPPDATA%\Packages\Raycast.Raycast_qypenmj9wpt2a |
The Store package's own data folder | Windows removes it with the app |
%LOCALAPPDATA%\Raycast |
Databases, clipboard history, extensions, search index, saved credentials, updates and logs | Back up first; remove for a clean start |
Scheduled task Raycast Open at Login |
Starts Raycast when you sign in | Remove it in Task Scheduler if it is still there after the uninstall |
Check the result
Run these read-only commands after the uninstall finishes:
Get-AppxPackage *Raycast*
Test-Path "$env:LOCALAPPDATA\Raycast"
Get-ScheduledTask -TaskName "*Raycast*" -ErrorAction SilentlyContinue
- If
Get-AppxPackagesucceeds without suppressed errors, no output means the app is removed for your account; a listed package means it is still installed. Test-PathreturningTruemeans your Raycast data is still there, which is expected unless you removed it yourself.Get-ScheduledTasklisting a task means the sign-in task is still registered; no matching output from a confirmed successful query means it is gone.
If you installed it with winget
winget uninstall removes the same Store package for your account; it does not touch %LOCALAPPDATA%\Raycast.
Account and subscription
Uninstalling does not cancel Raycast Pro or delete your Raycast account. Anything you synced with Cloud Sync stays with the account.
What Mole lists
For Raycast installed from the Microsoft Store:
- The app row takes the package's data folder in
%LOCALAPPDATA%\Packageswith it. %LOCALAPPDATA%\Raycastand itslogsfolder are listed but not selected, since the folder holds your data and credentials.- The
Raycast Open at Logintask is not part of the review; it shows in Mole's Startup list, where you can switch it off.
What this test covered
Tested on September 28, 2026 with Raycast 2.5.3.0 installed through winget from the Microsoft Store, per-user scope, on an ARM64 test VM. Every listed row was ticked and removed in this test. The Raycast Open at Login task was already on the test PC from an earlier install and stayed after this uninstall. Not verified: a signed-in account, Cloud Sync and exporting settings.
