How to uninstall QQ Music on Windows
Before removing QQ Music, check the download folder in its settings and copy the songs you want to keep somewhere else, then play a copy to confirm it works. Songs you can download again from your account do not need a local backup, and uninstalling does not cancel a QQ Music membership. This guide covers QQ Music 22.22 installed machine-wide through winget.
Quit QQ Music
Stop playback and quit QQ Music, then use Ctrl+Shift+Esc to check Task Manager; the test showed QQMusic.exe and qmbrowser.exe. QQ Music added a startup entry named QQ音乐 听我想听 (Settings › Apps › Startup), which disappeared after uninstalling.
Uninstall with QQ Music's own window
Open Settings › Apps › Installed apps, select QQ音乐 and choose Uninstall; Windows 10 calls this page Apps & features. In the test, the uninstaller's first screen preselected 更新到QQ音乐最新版 (update to the latest version), with 一键修复 (repair) and 直接卸载 (uninstall) below it. The default is not a removal: choose 直接卸载, then 下一步 (Next).
For a winget installation:
winget uninstall --id Tencent.QQMusic --exact
winget starts the same registered uninstaller, so expect the same choice. It does not delete songs saved outside the program folder.
Locations observed in testing
| Location | What it holds | What to do |
|---|---|---|
%ProgramFiles(x86)%\Tencent\QQMusic |
The tested installation | Run the uninstaller first; check for surviving files afterward |
%APPDATA%\Tencent\QQMusic |
QQ Music's local data, about 26 MB in this run | Back up anything you want first; the vendor uninstaller had already removed it in this test |
HKCU\Software\Tencent\QQMusic |
QQ Music settings | Export the exact key first if you want to keep them |
HKCU\Software\Classes\QQMusic.* (.mflac, .mgg, .qmc0 and similar types) |
File types QQ Music registers for the current user | Remove only these exact QQMusic keys |
HKLM\SOFTWARE\Classes\QQMusic.* and the extension keys such as .mflac and .qmc0 |
Machine file types and extension keys, still present after the test | Leave them; the extension keys may be shared with other players |
%ProgramData%\Tencent\QQ, HKCU\Software\Tencent\QQBrowser, HKCU\Software\Tencent\TBS, HKLM\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Tencent\Components |
Other Tencent products and shared Tencent components that appeared during the test | Leave them |
Do not delete the whole Tencent folder or key, since other Tencent apps may use it.
Check the result
winget list --id Tencent.QQMusic --exact
Test-Path -LiteralPath "${env:ProgramFiles(x86)}\Tencent\QQMusic" -ErrorAction Stop
Test-Path -LiteralPath "$env:APPDATA\Tencent\QQMusic" -ErrorAction Stop
Test-Path -LiteralPath 'HKCU:\Software\Tencent\QQMusic' -ErrorAction Stop
A winget row means the package is still listed; empty output or a source error alone does not prove removal, so also check Installed apps. For each Test-Path, True means that folder or key exists, while False without an error means it does not. An access error leaves the result unknown. None of these commands checks your copied songs.
What Mole lists
With Remove data and settings with apps off, the test's rows are:
- The install folder, selected with the Application row.
%APPDATA%\Tencent\QQMusic, listed but not selected.- The QQ音乐 and 听歌识曲 Start Menu shortcuts under 腾讯软件\QQ音乐 and the QQ音乐 shortcut on the public desktop, selected by default.
HKCU\Software\Tencent\QQMusic, listed but not selected.- Twelve
HKCU\Software\Classes\QQMusic.*file-type keys, selected by default. - The
QQMusicstartup value, selected by default. - Usage records for the QQ Music program path, selected by default.
Select all and Also remove data include the listed data rows. If the data-default preference is enabled, eligible app-owned AppData rows may start selected; registry keys do not. Files Mole removes go to the Recycle Bin, and registry entries are exported to a .reg backup before removal.
All listed rows were selected in the test. Mole removed the usage records, the settings key and one file-type key; the install folder, the data folder, the shortcuts, the other file-type keys and the startup value were already absent after the vendor uninstaller. Mole does not list the machine file types, the extension keys or the other Tencent locations above.
What this test covered
QQ Music 22.22 was installed machine-wide through winget and removed on October 21, 2026, in a Windows 11 ARM64 VM using a development build of Mole, which ran QQ Music's own uninstaller and the choice above. Sign-in, downloaded songs, membership, updates and the downloadable Mole package were not verified.
