How to uninstall QQ Browser on Windows
Save downloads and back up the bookmarks and profile data you want to keep before uninstalling QQ Browser. If you rely on account sync, confirm wanted data is available on another device before deleting local profiles. This guide covers the tested 11.1.5155.400 Windows installer, machine-wide scope.
Quit and use the vendor uninstaller
Close QQ Browser windows and check Task Manager for QQBrowser.exe. Use Settings › Apps › Installed apps › QQ Browser › Uninstall and complete the vendor's visible dialogs. The tested installation also had a TxQBService service and updater tasks; the vendor removed them in the completed run. Cancelling the administrator prompt left the app in place, and the successful result requested a restart.
Microsoft documents the Windows uninstall entry point. The following folders and removal outcome were observed in the Windows test, rather than inferred from another browser.
Review retained data
| Location | What to do |
|---|---|
%LOCALAPPDATA%\Tencent\QQBrowser |
Back up wanted browser profiles before deleting |
%APPDATA%\Tencent\QQBrowser |
Review settings and retained browser data |
HKCU\SOFTWARE\Tencent\QQBrowser |
Review this browser-specific settings key separately |
%ProgramFiles(x86)%\Tencent\QQBrowser |
Let the vendor uninstaller remove its program files |
Keep the Tencent parents, QQ, WeChat and other Tencent applications separate. Do not delete downloaded files just because the browser created the download. Uninstalling QQ Browser does not delete a Tencent account or cancel services attached to it.
Check the result
Get-Process QQBrowser -ErrorAction SilentlyContinue
winget list --id Tencent.QQBrowser --exact
Test-Path "$env:LOCALAPPDATA\Tencent\QQBrowser"
Test-Path "$env:APPDATA\Tencent\QQBrowser"
Get-Service TxQBService -ErrorAction SilentlyContinue
No process output means no process with that name is running, and no winget match means the matching installation record is gone. True means a data folder exists and False means it does not; retained profiles are expected when you kept them. A service row means the service is still registered, even if stopped, so finish any requested restart and check again. A query error does not establish removal.
If installed through winget
winget uninstall --id Tencent.QQBrowser --exact invokes the registered vendor uninstaller; finish its visible prompts. The recorded installation came from the official installer after the winget download stalled, so a separate winget removal was not verified.
What Mole lists
Desktop and Start Menu shortcuts are selected by default. The two QQBrowser data folders are personal data, listed but not selected and not included in bulk selection. The browser-specific Tencent settings key is listed but not selected. In the test, the program directory under Tencent was not a review row; the vendor uninstaller removed it. Shared Tencent folders are not deletion targets.
What this test covered
Tested on September 29, 2026 with QQ Browser 11.1.5155.400 from the official installer, machine-wide scope, on an ARM64 VM. The retained data folders were explicitly selected and removed after the vendor uninstall; its shortcuts were already absent. Real bookmarks, saved passwords, account sync and a separate vendor-only uninstall were not verified. The historical test tool's select-all included personal-data rows, so these removal results do not establish Mole's UI bulk-selection behavior.
