How to uninstall PrusaSlicer on Windows
PrusaSlicer keeps your printer, filament and print profiles in its configuration folder, which the uninstaller leaves in place. Export them first with File › Export › Export Config Bundle, or copy the folder, if you might reinstall or move to another PC. Your 3MF projects and G-code files stay wherever you saved them. This guide covers PrusaSlicer installed machine-wide from the Prusa3D.PrusaSlicer winget package.
Quit PrusaSlicer first
Save your project and close PrusaSlicer and the G-code Viewer. Neither adds a startup entry; check Task Manager (Ctrl+Shift+Esc) for any prusa-slicer.exe or prusa-gcodeviewer.exe still listed.
Remove the app with its own uninstaller
Go to Settings › Apps › Installed apps, find PrusaSlicer, and choose Uninstall, or run:
winget uninstall --id Prusa3D.PrusaSlicer
This is a machine-wide install, so Windows asks for administrator access. The uninstaller removes the program folder and the PrusaSlicer and G-code Viewer shortcuts in the Start Menu and on the public desktop.
Where the data lives
| Location | What it holds | What to do |
|---|---|---|
%ProgramFiles%\Prusa3D\PrusaSlicer |
Program files | Removed by the uninstaller |
%APPDATA%\PrusaSlicer |
Printer, filament and print profiles, and settings | Export or back up first; remove it only for a clean start |
%APPDATA%\PrusaSlicer\Cache |
Cache | Safe to remove |
%LOCALAPPDATA%\PrusaSlicer |
Local app data | Remove it if you are not reinstalling |
Prusa describes the configuration folder in its configuration folder help article.
Check the result
Get-Process prusa-slicer, prusa-gcodeviewer -ErrorAction SilentlyContinue
winget list --id Prusa3D.PrusaSlicer
Test-Path "$env:ProgramFiles\Prusa3D\PrusaSlicer"
Test-Path "$env:APPDATA\PrusaSlicer"
Test-Path "$env:LOCALAPPDATA\PrusaSlicer"
- No output from
Get-Processonly means this query observed no matching process; a suppressed error leaves the running state unknown. - A completed
winget listquery with no match means the package record is gone. Test-Pathon the program folder returningFalsemeans it is gone.Test-Path "$env:APPDATA\PrusaSlicer"returningTruemeans your profiles are still there, which is expected unless you removed them yourself.Test-Path "$env:LOCALAPPDATA\PrusaSlicer"returningTruemeans the local app data is still there.
If you installed it with winget
winget uninstall runs the same uninstaller Settings › Apps uses; it does not touch either PrusaSlicer data folder.
Account
Uninstalling does not sign you out of Prusa Account or Prusa Connect, and printers you added there stay in your account.
What Mole lists
For PrusaSlicer installed machine-wide from winget:
- The program folder, the Start Menu and public desktop shortcuts for PrusaSlicer and G-code Viewer, and a row grouping Windows' own records of when you opened the program are selected by default.
%APPDATA%\PrusaSlicerand%LOCALAPPDATA%\PrusaSlicerare listed but not selected, since they hold your profiles and settings.%APPDATA%\PrusaSlicer\Cacheis listed on its own and selected by default.- Your projects and G-code files are never listed.
What this test covered
Tested on September 28, 2026 with PrusaSlicer 2.9.6 installed through winget, machine scope, removed with its Inno Setup uninstaller running silently. Every listed row was ticked and removed in this test. Not verified: custom profiles, a signed-in Prusa Account, or a connected printer.
