How to uninstall PixPin on Windows
PixPin keeps its screenshot and OCR history in a per-user data folder that a plain uninstall does not touch. Back it up first if you want to keep that history. This guide covers PixPin installed per-user from the PixPin.PixPin winget package.
Quit PixPin first
PixPin runs from the tray. Check Task Manager (Ctrl+Shift+Esc) for PixPin.exe and crashpad_handler.exe and close them before you uninstall.
Remove the app with its own uninstaller
Go to Settings › Apps › Installed apps, find PixPin, and choose Uninstall, or run:
winget uninstall --id PixPin.PixPin
Where the data lives
| Location | What it holds | What to do |
|---|---|---|
%LOCALAPPDATA%\PixPin |
Screenshot and OCR history, right-click menu settings, cache and its own log file | Back this up if you want to keep your history; otherwise safe to remove |
In this test the vendor's own uninstaller removed this folder along with the program, so it was already gone by the time the review finished; back it up before you uninstall regardless.
Check the result
Run these read-only commands after the uninstall finishes:
Get-Process PixPin -ErrorAction SilentlyContinue
winget list --id PixPin.PixPin
Test-Path "$env:LOCALAPPDATA\Programs\PixPin"
Test-Path "$env:LOCALAPPDATA\PixPin"
- No output from
Get-Processonly means this query observed no matching process; a suppressed error leaves the running state unknown. - A completed
winget listquery with no match means the package record is gone; a matching row means the uninstall did not finish. - The first
Test-PathreturningFalsemeans the program folder is gone;Truemeans files remain there. - The second returning
Truemeans your history folder is still there, which is expected only if you kept it on purpose.
If you installed it with winget
winget uninstall runs the same Inno Setup uninstaller Settings › Apps uses and removes the same program files and, as observed in this test, the %LOCALAPPDATA%\PixPin folder along with them.
What Mole lists
For PixPin installed per-user from winget:
- The program folder, the Desktop shortcut, and the user Start Menu shortcuts are selected by default.
%LOCALAPPDATA%\PixPin, where your screenshot and OCR history live, is listed but not selected.- PixPin's own
pixpin://link registration is selected by default and backed up to a.regfile before removal.
What this test covered
Tested with PixPin 3.5.5.1 installed through winget, per-user scope, x86 Inno Setup package. No screenshots or OCR history were created during the test, so removal of an existing history folder was not verified end to end. The test installed it from an elevated session, so its uninstaller asked for administrator access; a normal per-user install does not.
