How to uninstall Philips Hue Sync on Windows
Your lights, rooms and entertainment areas live on the Hue Bridge and in your Hue account, not in Hue Sync, so removing the app does not change them. Hue Sync keeps its own settings in a few small folders on this PC; if you remove them, you may need to pair it with the bridge again after a reinstall. This guide covers Hue Sync installed machine-wide from the Philips.HueSync winget package, which uses a Windows Installer package.
Quit Hue Sync first
Stop syncing and quit Hue Sync from its tray icon. It runs a helper next to the main program; check Task Manager (Ctrl+Shift+Esc) for any HueSync.exe or handler.exe still listed. It added no startup entry in this test.
Remove the app with its own uninstaller
Go to Settings › Apps › Installed apps, find Hue Sync, and choose Uninstall, or run:
winget uninstall --id Philips.HueSync
This is a machine-wide install, so Windows asks for administrator access. The uninstaller removes the program folder, the Start Menu folder and the public desktop shortcut.
Where the data lives
| Location | What it holds | What to do |
|---|---|---|
%ProgramFiles%\Hue Sync |
Program files | Removed by the uninstaller |
%APPDATA%\HueSync |
Settings | Keep it if you will reinstall; otherwise remove it |
%LOCALAPPDATA%\Signify\huesync |
Local app data, with a Cache folder |
Remove it if you are not reinstalling |
%ProgramData%\HueSync |
Data shared by all users; empty in this test | Safe to remove |
%LOCALAPPDATA%\Signify |
The vendor's parent folder | Once huesync is gone it was empty in this test; remove it only if nothing else from Signify is inside |
Check the result
Get-Process HueSync -ErrorAction SilentlyContinue
winget list --id Philips.HueSync
Test-Path "$env:ProgramFiles\Hue Sync"
Test-Path "$env:APPDATA\HueSync"
Test-Path "$env:LOCALAPPDATA\Signify\huesync"
- No output from
Get-Processonly means this query observed no matching process; a suppressed error leaves the running state unknown. - A completed
winget listquery with no match means the package record is gone. Test-Path "$env:ProgramFiles\Hue Sync"returningFalsemeans the program folder is gone.Test-Path "$env:APPDATA\HueSync"or...\Signify\huesyncreturningTruemeans those data folders are still there, which is expected unless you removed them yourself.
If you installed it with winget
winget uninstall runs the same Windows Installer uninstall that Settings › Apps uses; it does not touch the data folders above.
Account
Uninstalling does not sign you out of your Hue account, and the bridge keeps its entertainment areas.
What Mole lists
For Hue Sync installed machine-wide from winget:
- The program folder, the Start Menu folder, the public desktop shortcut and a row grouping Windows' own records of when you opened the program are selected by default.
%APPDATA%\HueSync,%LOCALAPPDATA%\Signify\huesyncand%ProgramData%\HueSyncare listed but not selected, since they hold settings.- The
Cachefolder inside%LOCALAPPDATA%\Signify\huesyncis listed on its own and selected by default. - The empty
%LOCALAPPDATA%\Signifyparent is not listed.
What this test covered
Tested on September 27, 2026 with Hue Sync 1.13.0.77 installed through winget, machine scope, removed with its Windows Installer package running silently. Every listed row was ticked and removed in this test. Not verified: pairing with a Hue Bridge, a signed-in Hue account, or syncing lights.
