How to uninstall OrcaSlicer on Windows
OrcaSlicer keeps your printer, filament and process presets in %APPDATA%\OrcaSlicer, and none of it goes away when you uninstall the app. If you tuned presets or calibrated filaments, export them first from the File menu's export options, or copy that folder. Your project and model files stay wherever you saved them. This guide covers OrcaSlicer installed machine-wide from the SoftFever.OrcaSlicer winget package.
Quit OrcaSlicer first
Save open projects and close the window, then check Task Manager (Ctrl+Shift+Esc) for any orca-slicer.exe still listed.
Remove the app with its own uninstaller
Go to Settings › Apps › Installed apps, find OrcaSlicer, and choose Uninstall, or run:
winget uninstall --id SoftFever.OrcaSlicer
Because it is installed for all users, Windows asks for administrator approval before the uninstaller runs.
Where the data lives
| Location | What it holds | What to do |
|---|---|---|
%ProgramFiles%\OrcaSlicer |
Program files | The uninstaller removes it |
%APPDATA%\OrcaSlicer |
Printer, filament and process presets, app settings and logs | Export or back up first; keep it if you plan to reinstall |
%LOCALAPPDATA%\OrcaSlicer |
Local caches | Safe to remove |
HKCU\Software\Classes\orcaslicer |
The orcaslicer:// link that opens models from websites |
Remove once the app is gone |
HKLM\Software\WOW6432Node\SoftFever |
A machine-wide key the installer writes | Leave it unless you are cleaning up by hand as an administrator |
Check the result
Run these read-only commands after the uninstall finishes:
Get-Process orca-slicer -ErrorAction SilentlyContinue
winget list --id SoftFever.OrcaSlicer
Test-Path "$env:ProgramFiles\OrcaSlicer"
Test-Path "$env:APPDATA\OrcaSlicer"
Test-Path "HKCU:\Software\Classes\orcaslicer"
- No output from
Get-Processonly means this query observed no matching process; a suppressed error leaves the running state unknown. - A completed
winget listquery with no match means the package record is gone; a matching row means the uninstall did not finish. Test-Path "$env:ProgramFiles\OrcaSlicer"returningFalsemeans the program folder is gone.Test-Path "$env:APPDATA\OrcaSlicer"returningTruemeans your presets are still there, which is expected unless you removed them yourself.Test-Pathon theorcaslicerkey returningTruemeans the link still points at the removed program.
If you installed it with winget
winget uninstall runs the same uninstaller Settings › Apps uses; it does not touch %APPDATA%\OrcaSlicer or %LOCALAPPDATA%\OrcaSlicer.
Accounts
Uninstalling does not sign you out of a printer maker's cloud account you connected, and does not remove printers bound to it.
What Mole lists
For OrcaSlicer installed machine-wide from winget:
- The program folder, the Start Menu folder and a row grouping Windows' own records of when you opened the program are selected by default.
- The
orcaslicer://link is selected by default and backed up to a.regfile before removal. %APPDATA%\OrcaSlicerand%LOCALAPPDATA%\OrcaSlicerare listed but not selected, since the first holds your presets.- The machine-wide
SoftFeverkey is not listed.
What this test covered
Tested on September 28, 2026 with OrcaSlicer 2.4.2 installed through winget, machine scope, on an ARM64 test VM. No printer was set up and no presets were changed. Every listed row was ticked and removed in this test.
