Remove with the vendor uninstaller
Find the app in Settings › Apps › Installed apps and uninstall it. Save local data first; use the uninstaller rather than deleting its program folder.
For the measured winget installation, this command runs the package’s uninstall flow.
winget uninstall --id Opera.OperaGX --exact
Leave Delete my Opera user data unchecked when retaining browser data.
Check the result
Get-Process -Name 'opera' -ErrorAction SilentlyContinue
winget list --id Opera.OperaGX --exact
Test-Path "$env:LOCALAPPDATA\Opera Software\Opera GX Stable"
Test-Path "$env:APPDATA\Opera Software\Opera GX Stable"
No process output means no matching process was observed. A completed installation query with no match means the measured registration is absent; a query error does not prove removal. Test-Path returns True when the path remains and False when absent. True is expected when retaining data.
What Mole lists
The program folder, shortcuts, startup entries and registrations pointing at this program are selected; registrations are backed up before removal. Opera Software\Opera GX Stable under both Local and Roaming contains personal browser data, unchecked and excluded from bulk selection. The vendor’s Delete my Opera user data option remained unchecked. Both automatic update tasks were reported read-only in the uninstall result and retained; firewall registrations are reported only.
While installed, Clean lists the measured Default disk cache under Local and Code Cache/GPUCache under Roaming. These regenerable caches wait while Opera runs; browser data and pending add-on downloads remain outside Clean.
What this test covered
Recorded in Windows 11 ARM64 source tests and retests on 2026-10-03 and 2026-10-04, using the measured package uninstall flow. The released download, account sign-in, synced content and other installation channels were not verified.
