How to uninstall Netflix on Windows
The Netflix app for Windows is a window onto Netflix's website, and everything that matters, your profiles, watch history and list, belongs to your Netflix account, not to this PC. Nothing needs backing up before you remove it. This guide covers Netflix installed per-user from the Microsoft Store (9WZDNCRFJ3TJ).
Quit Netflix first
Close the Netflix window. The app runs inside Windows' shared WebView2 host, so there is no separate Netflix process to look for in Task Manager, and it adds no startup entry.
Remove the app
Go to Settings › Apps › Installed apps, find Netflix, and choose Uninstall, or right-click Netflix in the Start menu and choose Uninstall, or run:
winget uninstall --id 9WZDNCRFJ3TJ
Windows removes Store apps without a confirmation window from the app itself.
Where the data lives
| Location | What it holds | What to do |
|---|---|---|
%LOCALAPPDATA%\Packages\4DF9E0F8.Netflix_mcm4njqhnhss8 |
The app's local data container | Windows removed it with the app in this test |
Check the result
Run these read-only commands after the uninstall finishes:
Get-AppxPackage *Netflix*
winget list --id 9WZDNCRFJ3TJ
Test-Path "$env:LOCALAPPDATA\Packages\4DF9E0F8.Netflix_mcm4njqhnhss8"
- If
Get-AppxPackagesucceeds without suppressed errors, no output means the Netflix package is no longer installed for your account. - A completed
winget listquery with no match means the package record is gone. Test-PathreturningFalsemeans the data container is gone;Truemeans Windows has not finished removing it.
If you installed it with winget
winget uninstall removes the same Store package, with the same result.
Account and subscription
Uninstalling does not cancel your Netflix membership or sign you out on other devices. Manage both from your account on netflix.com.
What Mole lists
For Netflix installed from the Microsoft Store:
- The app row, which carries the package's data container, selected by default. Store apps are removed through Windows for your account only.
What this test covered
Tested on 2026-09-28 with Netflix installed from the Microsoft Store through winget, per-user scope, on an ARM64 virtual machine. The app opened but showed only a "Not Available" page, so signing in, profiles and playback were not verified. Every listed row was ticked and removed in this test.
