How to uninstall Maxthon on Windows
This covers Maxthon 7.5.3.2400 installed for the current user with winget. Nobody signed in.
Quit Maxthon first. This run used Local\Maxthon\Maxthon.exe.
The uninstall page checks Delete user data files by default. Clear that box first if you want to keep the profile, then click Uninstall.
& "$env:LOCALAPPDATA\Maxthon\7.5.3.2400\Installer\setup.exe" --uninstall
Where the data is
| Location | What it holds | What to do |
|---|---|---|
%LOCALAPPDATA%\Maxthon |
The program and user data | The default checked box was left on, and the folder was gone afterwards |
HKCU\SOFTWARE\Maxthon |
Settings | Removed this time |
| Firewall rules Maxthon Browser and Maxthon (mDNS-In) | Inbound rules | Still there. Remove them in Windows Defender Firewall with Advanced Security if you want |
The first launch asks for administrator again. You can keep using the installed program without approving that prompt.
Check
Test-Path "$env:LOCALAPPDATA\Maxthon"
Test-Path 'HKCU:\SOFTWARE\Maxthon'
False on both means the program folder and the settings key are gone.
Mole listed the program folder, the Maxthon settings key, its own file types and a usage record. It reports the firewall rules and does not remove them.

The test accepted the default data-deletion choice, so it is not evidence that uninstalling keeps a used profile. The app was removed, while firewall rules were only reported and shared extension keys were kept.
These defaults assume Remove data and settings with apps is off. Explicit Select all or Also remove user data can include the listed personal-data rows. Check the selection before confirming. Selected files that Mole removes go to the Recycle Bin; selected registry entries are backed up before removal. The vendor uninstaller has its own deletion behavior.
What this test covered
Recorded on 2026-10-20: Maxthon, version 7.5.3.2400, per-user, vendor uninstaller, winget package Maxthon.Maxthon. The evidence comes from an ARM64 Windows test environment and a development build of Mole. It does not certify the current downloadable package or removal of real signed-in accounts, synchronized data or production projects.
Vendor documentation. The paths and removal results above are observations from the Windows test unless explicitly attributed to the vendor.
