How to uninstall LX Music on Windows
LX Music (洛雪音乐) keeps your playlists, settings and custom sources in its data folder, and its uninstaller leaves that folder alone. If you might reinstall, back up your lists first from the app's settings (备份与恢复, Backup and restore), or copy %APPDATA%\lx-music-desktop. This guide covers LX Music installed per-user from the lyswhut.lx-music-desktop winget package.
Quit LX Music first
Quit LX Music from its window or tray icon. It is an Electron app and runs several lx-music-desktop.exe processes at once; check Task Manager (Ctrl+Shift+Esc) that none is still listed before you uninstall. LX Music added no startup item in this test.
Remove the app with its own uninstaller
Go to Settings › Apps › Installed apps, find lx-music-desktop, and choose Uninstall, or run:
winget uninstall --id lyswhut.lx-music-desktop
Where the data lives
| Location | What it holds | What to do |
|---|---|---|
%LOCALAPPDATA%\Programs\lx-music-desktop |
Program files | The uninstaller removes it |
%APPDATA%\lx-music-desktop |
Playlists, settings, custom sources, plus caches and logs | Back up your lists first; keep it if you plan to reinstall |
%LOCALAPPDATA%\lx-music-desktop-updater |
Downloaded update installers | Safe to remove |
HKCU\Software\Classes\lxmusic |
The lxmusic:// link |
Safe to remove once the app is gone |
Check the result
Run these read-only commands after the uninstall finishes:
Get-Process lx-music-desktop -ErrorAction SilentlyContinue
winget list --id lyswhut.lx-music-desktop
Test-Path "$env:LOCALAPPDATA\Programs\lx-music-desktop"
Test-Path "$env:APPDATA\lx-music-desktop"
Test-Path "$env:LOCALAPPDATA\lx-music-desktop-updater"
Test-Path "HKCU:\Software\Classes\lxmusic"
- No output from
Get-Processonly means this query observed no matching process; a suppressed error leaves the running state unknown. - A completed
winget listquery with no match means the package record is gone; a matching row means the uninstall did not finish. - The first
Test-PathreturningFalsemeans the program folder is gone;Truemeans files remain there. Test-Path "$env:APPDATA\lx-music-desktop"returningTruemeans your lists and settings are still there, which is expected unless you removed them yourself.- The updater folder or the
lxmusickey returningTruemeans they are still there; both are safe to remove.
If you installed it with winget
winget uninstall runs the same NSIS uninstaller Settings › Apps uses and removes the same program files; it does not touch %APPDATA%\lx-music-desktop on its own.
What Mole lists
For LX Music installed per-user from winget:
- The program folder goes with the app row, and a row grouping Windows' own records of when you opened the program is selected by default.
%APPDATA%\lx-music-desktopis listed but not selected, since it holds your lists and settings. The caches and logs inside it (Cache,Code Cache, logs) are listed on their own and selected.%LOCALAPPDATA%\lx-music-desktop-updater, which holds only downloaded installers, is selected by default.- The
lxmusic://link is selected by default when it still points at the removed program, and backed up to a.regfile before removal.
What this test covered
Tested on 2026-09-28 with LX Music 2.12.6 installed through winget, per-user scope, from an elevated session. Its NSIS uninstaller ran silently, and every listed row was ticked and removed in this test. Not verified: saved playlists, custom sources, or backup and restore.
