How to uninstall Lunacy on Windows
This guide covers the official Lunacy 14.1.0.0 ARM64 Windows installer. Save your designs and quit Lunacy before uninstalling.
Back up settings and data first
After quitting the app, copy any data folder you want to keep to another location and check the copy. These locations were observed in this test; keep your own projects and files separate.
| Location | Contents | What to do |
|---|---|---|
%LOCALAPPDATA%\Icons8\Lunacy |
Application settings | Keep for reuse; remove only to reset |
Remove the app
Uninstall Lunacy from Settings › Apps › Installed apps. The measured program folder was %ProgramFiles(x86)%\Lunacy.
Check the result
Test-Path "${env:ProgramFiles(x86)}\Lunacy"
Test-Path "$env:LOCALAPPDATA\Icons8\Lunacy"
Test-Path "$env:ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Lunacy"
Test-Path (Join-Path ([Environment]::GetFolderPath('Desktop')) 'Lunacy.lnk')
Test-Path returns False when that exact path is absent and True when it still exists. A data path returning True is expected if you kept your settings or data. If a query reports an error, resolve it before deciding whether the path is absent.
What Mole lists
The program folder, cache, logs, desktop and Start menu shortcuts, and usage records are selected by default. %LOCALAPPDATA%\Icons8\Lunacy contains settings and starts unchecked for review; bulk selection can include it. Leave this row unchecked to retain settings.
The shared Icons8 parent folder and .free extension registration remain. Mole does not offer design files as leftovers.
What this test covered
Tested on October 6, 2026, in a Windows 11 ARM64 VM with a Mole development build. All four paths returned False after the measured bulk uninstall, which included the review row. The native Apps list no longer showed Lunacy, and a successful process inventory contained no program from its folder. Real design files, an external uninstall and a released Mole package were not tested.
