How to uninstall Lively Wallpaper on Windows
Lively Wallpaper keeps your wallpaper library and settings in its own data folder, and in this test its uninstaller removed that folder along with the program. If you imported or made wallpapers you want to keep, copy the original files, or the whole %LOCALAPPDATA%\Lively Wallpaper folder, before you uninstall. This guide covers Lively Wallpaper installed machine-wide from the rocksdanister.LivelyWallpaper winget package.
Quit Lively first
Right-click Lively's notification area icon and choose Exit, so the wallpaper stops and both Lively.exe and Lively.UI.WinUI.exe close. Lively starts when you sign in; you can turn that off in Settings › Apps › Startup. Check Task Manager (Ctrl+Shift+Esc) that neither process is still listed before you uninstall.
Remove the app with its own uninstaller
Go to Settings › Apps › Installed apps, find Lively Wallpaper, and choose Uninstall, or run:
winget uninstall --id rocksdanister.LivelyWallpaper
A machine-wide install asks for administrator access.
Where the data lives
| Location | What it holds | What to do |
|---|---|---|

Lively value in HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run |
The start-at-sign-in entry | Removed by the uninstaller in this test |
%ProgramFiles%\dotnet |
The .NET runtime Lively's installer set up | Shared with other .NET apps; leave it installed |
Check the result
Run these read-only commands after the uninstall finishes:
Get-Process Lively, Lively.UI.WinUI -ErrorAction SilentlyContinue
winget list --id rocksdanister.LivelyWallpaper
Test-Path "${env:ProgramFiles(x86)}\Lively Wallpaper"
Test-Path "$env:LOCALAPPDATA\Lively Wallpaper"
Get-ItemProperty "HKCU:\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run" -Name Lively -ErrorAction SilentlyContinue
- No output from
Get-Processonly means this query observed no matching process; a suppressed error leaves the running state unknown. - A completed
winget listquery with no match means the package record is gone; a matching row means the uninstall did not finish. - The first
Test-PathreturningFalsemeans the program folder is gone;Truemeans files remain there. - The second returning
Falsemeans your wallpaper library folder is gone too;Truemeans it is still there. Get-ItemPropertyprinting aLivelyvalue means the start-at-sign-in entry is still there.
If you installed it with winget
winget uninstall runs the same Inno Setup uninstaller Settings › Apps uses and removes the same files. The .NET runtime stays installed either way.
What Mole lists
For Lively Wallpaper installed machine-wide from winget:
- The program folder goes with the app row. The Start Menu and public Desktop shortcuts and a row grouping Windows' own records of when you opened the program are selected by default.
%LOCALAPPDATA%\Lively Wallpaperis listed but not selected, since it holds your wallpaper library.- The
Livelystart-at-sign-in value is listed and selected; Mole backs it up to a.regfile before removing it. - The shared .NET runtime is not listed.
What this test covered
Tested on September 28, 2026 with Lively Wallpaper 2.2.1.0 installed through winget, machine scope. Its Inno Setup uninstaller ran silently and removed the program folder, the data folder, both shortcuts and the startup value before Mole's own step ran. Every listed row was ticked and removed in this test. Not verified: a library with imported wallpapers, and multiple monitors.
