How to uninstall LibreOffice on Windows
Uninstalling LibreOffice should be separate from deleting your documents, templates and personal dictionaries. Save the documents first, then check the user paths shown in LibreOffice before removing the application.
Save your data and quit
Open Tools › Options › LibreOffice › Paths and note the locations you changed. Copy wanted templates and other user files to a separate folder and open a sample copy. Close Writer, Calc and the other LibreOffice windows before using the Windows uninstaller.
Uninstall the tested package
In Windows 11, open Settings › Apps › Installed apps, find LibreOffice, and choose Uninstall. In Windows 10, use Settings › Apps › Apps & features. Keep the installed program folder intact until its uninstaller finishes. If this was the winget package, first confirm its exact identity:
winget list --id TheDocumentFoundation.LibreOffice --exact
If the successful query shows the intended installation, remove that package:
winget uninstall --id TheDocumentFoundation.LibreOffice --exact
This follows the package’s registered removal method; portable packages use their package-manager removal instead. An error or a missing winget match is not proof that the app is absent: check the Windows app list and the original installation method. Follow any vendor confirmation or restart request after saving other work. See Microsoft’s uninstall command documentation.
Data and components to check
The following locations or components need separate decisions. A remaining folder is not automatically disposable.
| Location or component | What to keep or check |
|---|---|
Tools > Options > LibreOffice > Paths |
Use the actual configured paths for templates and backups; do not guess them from the program installation directory. |
| Documents and spreadsheets | Keep authored files and external fonts. Uninstalling the office suite is not a reason to delete them. |
See LibreOffice’s official documentation.
Check the outcome
winget list --id TheDocumentFoundation.LibreOffice --exact
A successful package query with no matching row means that package registration was not found. A matching row means it still exists; an error leaves the result unknown. Keep deliberately retained data. Check Task Manager for a process whose executable belongs to this installation, and distinguish another version or a separate companion app before acting.
What Mole lists
The test review contained program-related items selected by default and two data items left unselected. Only choose additional data after inspecting the actual paths. Machine maintenance services and registry information were reported without being manually deleted.
What this test covered
LibreOffice 26.8.1.1 was installed through its x64 MSI on an x64 Windows PC. The uninstaller removed its registration and program folder, and a later scan checked for leftovers. Document and macro recovery after reinstalling were not tested. These uninstall results do not verify version upgrading.
These results are from a development build of Mole. Other released builds were not individually tested.
