How to uninstall Keeper on Windows
Before uninstalling Keeper, confirm that you can open your vault on another approved device or in the web vault, and save any changes that have not synced. Keeper's desktop-app guide says uninstalling removes local data but keeps the Cloud Security Vault. This guide covers the per-user MSIX package installed through winget.
Quit and uninstall Keeper
Quit Keeper Password Manager, including its tray entry if one is running, and use Ctrl+Shift+Esc to check Task Manager for remaining Keeper processes. The recorded run showed no startup entry. Open Settings › Apps › Installed apps, select Keeper Password Manager and choose Uninstall; Windows 10 calls this page Apps & features. Let Windows remove the package rather than deleting its program directory.
For a winget installation:
winget uninstall --id KeeperSecurity.KeeperDesktop --exact
This invokes the installed package's removal. It does not cancel a subscription, delete the cloud account or remove browser extensions installed separately. If you need an export, Keeper documents it under Settings › Export in the vault guide; keep exported passwords private.
Local data observed in testing
| Location | What it holds | What to do |
|---|---|---|
%LOCALAPPDATA%\Packages\KeeperSecurityInc.KeeperPasswordManager_zwgt23r867e2p |
The tested MSIX package's local data | Verify access to your vault first; Windows removes this container with the package |
This location comes from the test. Do not delete the entire Packages folder or assume that uninstalling proves every exported password file is gone.
Check the result
Get-AppxPackage -Name KeeperSecurityInc.KeeperPasswordManager -ErrorAction Stop | Select-Object Name, PackageFullName
Test-Path -LiteralPath "$env:LOCALAPPDATA\Packages\KeeperSecurityInc.KeeperPasswordManager_zwgt23r867e2p" -ErrorAction Stop
A successful package query with no rows means this package is not registered for the current user; a row means it remains registered. True means the exact container exists, while False without an error means it is absent. An error leaves the check unresolved. Neither command checks cloud records, browser extensions or exports elsewhere.
What Mole lists
Mole lists the package-data row, selected with the Application row. Windows removes it as part of the MSIX uninstall, not as a separately recycled password folder. In this run, the package registration disappeared and the package-data path was already absent when checked. The saved snapshot comparison found no additional changes to review; that does not prove every personal-data location was removed.
What this test covered
Keeper Password Manager 18.6.5.0, the x64 MSIX package from winget, was installed for the current user and removed on October 21, 2026, in a Windows 11 ARM64 VM using a development build of Mole. Signed-in vault contents, synchronization, account deletion and updates were not verified. A separate external-uninstall check found no related cleanup rows immediately or ten minutes later, but its upgrade control was not recorded, so that check is incomplete. The downloadable Mole package was not verified in this run.
