How to uninstall KakaoTalk on Windows
This run covers KakaoTalk 26.8.1.5315 installed through elevated winget in machine scope, with publisher Kakao Corp. No account or chat history was created.
Close KakaoTalk before uninstalling and keep a copy of any local data or settings you want to retain.
Remove the program
Find KakaoTalk in Windows Settings under Installed apps and choose Uninstall. Mole invoked the registered NSIS uninstaller. Its /S switch still displayed a question about deleting chat history on the computer; this test chose No, then explicitly included the test profile offered by Mole. Real-chat retention was not verified.
Check the result
Test-Path "$env:ProgramFiles\Kakao\KakaoTalk"
Test-Path "$env:LOCALAPPDATA\Kakao\KakaoTalk"
Test-Path "HKCU:\Software\Kakao\KakaoTalk"
All three were False. Independent checks also found the exact uninstall registration and Start menu shortcut absent. Startup no longer had an owned entry.
For your own check, a successful Test-Path query returns True when that specific path exists and False when it is absent. A query error leaves the result unresolved; neither result proves that every leftover is gone.
What Mole lists
The program, Start menu shortcut, startup entry and usage records are selected by default. %LOCALAPPDATA%\Kakao\KakaoTalk and HKCU\Software\Kakao\KakaoTalk are listed but not selected by default; including app data includes them.
The Kakao vendor parents remain. Independent checks found their directories and registry parent empty; shared parents were not removed manually.
What this test covered
Tested on October 4, 2026, in a Windows 11 ARM64 VM with a Mole development build, covering first launch and uninstall. Sign-in or real-chat retention, other installation channels and the released download were not verified. Automatic detection after an external uninstall was not verified.
