How to uninstall K-Lite Codec Pack Standard on Windows
Save wanted files and settings before removing K-Lite Codec Pack Standard 20.0.0 on Windows. The locations below were observed in this test; keep shared components separate from app data.
Use the app's uninstaller
Quit the bundled MPC-HC player and configuration tools, then uninstall K-Lite Codec Pack from Settings › Apps › Installed apps.
Data and remaining locations
Enter each complete path in File Explorer. Copy wanted data and settings first; unused caches can be removed. Keep drivers, shared parent folders and shared registrations.
| Location | What Mole offers |
|---|---|
%ProgramFiles(x86)%\K-Lite Codec Pack |
Program directory, selected by default |
%ProgramData%\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\K-Lite Codec Pack |
Seven owned shortcut files, selected by default |
| Usage records for the program directory | Selected by default |
Check the result
Get-Process 'mpc-hc64','CodecTweakTool','mediainfo' -ErrorAction SilentlyContinue
Test-Path "${env:ProgramFiles(x86)}\K-Lite Codec Pack" -ErrorAction Stop
Test-Path 'HKLM:\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\KLiteCodecPack_is1' -ErrorAction Stop
winget list --id CodecGuide.K-LiteCodecPack.Standard --exact
Test-Path returns True if that exact path exists and False if it is absent; True is expected for data you kept. Resolve query errors before drawing a conclusion. If a process, service or app query lists this product, check its path and installation source. Empty output with suppressed errors alone does not prove removal.
If you installed it with winget
These commands invoke the vendor uninstaller. This test used Mole and did not repeat removal separately through winget.
winget uninstall --id CodecGuide.K-LiteCodecPack.Standard --exact
What Mole lists
The program, Start menu shortcuts for bundled tools and usage records are selected by default. Shared file associations and the Windows graphics-preferences container remain.
What this test covered

Playback, codec functionality or settings recovery, other installation channels and the released download were not verified. Automatic detection after an external uninstall was not verified.
