How to uninstall Jump Desktop on Windows
Jump Desktop keeps your saved computers in the app's own data and, if you sign in, in your Jump account; note down any connections you set up by hand before you remove it. The computers you connect to are not affected: Jump Desktop Connect, which you install on those computers, is a separate app. This guide covers Jump Desktop installed machine-wide with the installer from jumpdesktop.com.
Quit Jump Desktop first
End any open remote session, then quit Jump Desktop from its window or tray icon. Check Task Manager (Ctrl+Shift+Esc) for any JumpClient.exe still listed before you uninstall.
Remove the app with its own uninstaller
Go to Settings › Apps › Installed apps, find Jump Desktop, and choose Uninstall. It is a machine-wide Windows Installer package, so Windows asks for administrator access. The uninstaller removes Program Files\Phase Five Systems\Jump Desktop and the Start Menu shortcut.
Where the data lives
| Location | What it holds | What to do |
|---|---|---|
%LOCALAPPDATA%\Jump Desktop |
Per-user app data | Keep it if you are reinstalling soon; remove it for a clean start |
%ProgramData%\Phase Five Systems\Jump Desktop |
Machine-wide app data | Safe to remove once the app is gone |
%ProgramData%\Phase Five Systems |
The publisher's folder, empty once the app is gone | Empty; remove it yourself if nothing else from Phase Five Systems is installed |
HKCU\SOFTWARE\Jump Desktop |
Settings | Keep it if you are reinstalling soon; remove it for a clean start |
HKCU\Software\Classes\.jdz |
The .jdz file type key |
Harmless; leave it or remove it |
Check the result
Run these read-only commands after the uninstall finishes:
Get-Process JumpClient -ErrorAction SilentlyContinue
Test-Path "$env:ProgramFiles\Phase Five Systems\Jump Desktop"
Test-Path "$env:LOCALAPPDATA\Jump Desktop"
Test-Path "HKCU:\SOFTWARE\Jump Desktop"
Get-ChildItem "$env:ProgramData\Phase Five Systems" -ErrorAction SilentlyContinue
- No output from
Get-Processonly means this query observed no matching process; a suppressed error leaves the running state unknown. - The first
Test-PathreturningFalsemeans the program folder is gone. - The next two returning
Truemean your app data and settings are still there, which is expected unless you removed them yourself. Get-ChildItemreturning nothing cannot distinguish an empty, absent or unreadable publisher folder; a listedJump Desktopfolder means its machine-wide data is still there.
Account and subscription
Uninstalling does not cancel a Jump Desktop purchase or subscription and does not sign you out of your Jump account on other devices.
What Mole lists
For Jump Desktop installed machine-wide from the vendor installer:
- The program folder goes with the app row. The Start Menu shortcut and a row grouping Windows' own records of when you opened the program are selected by default.
%LOCALAPPDATA%\Jump Desktop,%ProgramData%\Phase Five Systems\Jump DesktopandHKCU\SOFTWARE\Jump Desktopare listed but not selected, since they may hold your settings.- The
jump://link and theJumpDesktop.JdzArchivefile type registration, which point at the removed program, are selected by default and backed up to a.regfile before removal. - The empty
Phase Five Systemsfolder in%ProgramData%and the.jdzextension key are not listed.
What this test covered
Tested on September 28, 2026 with Jump Desktop 10.15.31.0 installed machine-wide with the installer from jumpdesktop.com, and removed with its Windows Installer uninstaller. Every listed row was ticked and removed in this test. Not verified: saved computers, a signed-in Jump account, or a remote session.
