How to uninstall Identity V on Windows
Identity V (第五人格) keeps your account, purchases and match history on NetEase's servers, not on this PC, so removing the game does not touch them. What stays local is the game's own install folder at the drive root, which the uninstaller does not fully clean up. This guide covers Identity V installed from the NetEase.IdentityV package.
Quit the game first
Close Identity V and its launcher completely before you uninstall. If the game's own process is still running, the uninstaller can fail to finish and leave a registry entry with no working uninstaller behind it; quitting first avoids that.
Remove the app with its own uninstaller
Go to Settings › Apps › Installed apps, find Identity V (第五人格), and choose Uninstall, or run:
winget uninstall --id NetEase.IdentityV
The uninstaller runs silently and removes most of the install folder on its own.
Where the data lives
| Location | What it holds | What to do |
|---|---|---|
C:\IdentityV2 |
The game's engine components, downloaded resource packs and other install files | Safe to remove yourself once winget list shows the package is gone; your account, purchases and progress are not stored here |
Roaming\NetEase\Mpay and Local\NetEase\UniSDK\CrashDump |
Shared components NetEase's other games on this PC also use | Not this game's alone; leave alone unless you are removing every NetEase game |
Local\Microsoft\GameInputRedist |
A Microsoft input library other games can share too | Not this game's; leave alone |
Check the result
Run these read-only commands after the uninstall finishes:
Get-Process dwrg -ErrorAction SilentlyContinue
winget list --id NetEase.IdentityV
Test-Path "C:\IdentityV2"
- No output from
Get-Processonly means this query observed no matching process; a suppressed error leaves the running state unknown. - A completed
winget listquery with no match means the package record is gone; a matching row means the uninstall did not finish, or left an entry with no working uninstaller behind. Test-PathreturningTruemeans files remain in the install folder; this is a known gap, see below.Falsemeans it is fully gone.
If you installed it with winget
winget uninstall runs the same silent uninstaller Settings › Apps uses and removes the same program files; it does not clear the install folder at the drive root on its own, see below.
Account and subscription
Uninstalling does not delete your NetEase account, in-game purchases or match history; they live on NetEase's servers and come back the moment you reinstall and sign in.
What Mole lists
For Identity V installed from winget:
- The desktop and Start Menu shortcuts are selected by default and removed with the uninstaller.
- If the game was still running during the uninstall, its entry can stay in Installed apps with its uninstaller already gone. Mole backs up such an entry to a
.regfile and removes it. C:\IdentityV2is not listed. The uninstaller leaves part of the game there, so check it and remove it yourself after the uninstall.Roaming\NetEase\Mpay,Local\NetEase\UniSDK\CrashDumpandLocal\Microsoft\GameInputRedistare shared with other software and are never listed.
What this test covered
Tested with Identity V installed through winget, with the game quit before uninstalling. The install folder remaining at the drive root was confirmed on 2026-09-27. Signing in, purchases and a first-run install where the game is still open during uninstall were not verified end to end.
