How to uninstall GitButler on Windows

This guide covers the official GitButler 0.22.3 x64 machine MSI installer.

Back up repository and app data first

Keep your working repositories and app settings before uninstalling. This test did not import a repository, sign in or verify recovery.

Uninstall the app

Quit GitButler, then uninstall it from Windows Settings. The measured program root was C:\Program Files\GitButler, and the client was gitbutler-tauri.exe.

What Mole lists

The application, its logs, shortcuts and usage records are selected by default. Local and Roaming com.gitbutler.app, Roaming gitbutler and the HKCU product key are ordinary Review, unchecked by default. Selecting these data rows can remove settings.

In this run, all selected paths and the exact MSI registration were absent after one normal removal. Both user and SYSTEM process checks were clear.

What this test covered

Tested on October 7, 2026, in a Windows 11 ARM64 VM with source-built Mole. The initial telemetry-choice page, native icon, size, Status, Startup and review were observed; Continue was not clicked. One MSI removal and independent readbacks passed. Providers offered no GitButler update, which proves neither latest version nor an upgrade. Real repository work, external uninstall, restoration and the released Mole package were not tested.
