How to uninstall Foxit PDF Reader on Windows
This guide covers the official Foxit PDF Reader 2026.2.1.39815 x64 machine installer.
Back up documents and preferences first
Keep your PDFs and back up %APPDATA%\Foxit Software\Continuous\Foxit PDF Reader if you need its settings. Mole lists only this Reader leaf, not Continuous, Editor or the updater parent.
Uninstall the app
Quit Foxit PDF Reader, then uninstall it from Windows Settings. The measured program directory was C:\Program Files\Foxit Software\Foxit PDF Reader.
Check the result
Test-Path 'C:\Program Files\Foxit Software\Foxit PDF Reader'
Test-Path "$env:APPDATA\Foxit Software\Continuous\Foxit PDF Reader"
Test-Path 'C:\ProgramData\Foxit Software\Foxit PDF Reader'
Test-Path 'HKCU:\SOFTWARE\Foxit Software\Foxit PDF Reader'
The first three paths were absent. The user settings key remained in both registry views because SYSTEM owned it; Mole kept it under its shared-key protection. A Removed result with keptShared does not mean the whole key disappeared. A query error does not prove absence.
What Mole lists
Program, shortcuts and usage records are selected by default. ProgramData, the exact Reader profile and its user key are ordinary unchecked Review rows, included in this test. Vendor parents and other products stay outside the rule.
What this test covered
Tested on October 7, 2026, in a Windows 11 ARM64 VM with a source-built Mole. The empty reader, native icon, size, Status retake, Startup and review were observed. One vendor removal completed with seven outcomes: four Removed and three Missing, including the preserved key's keptShared reason. Independent program, registration, selected physical paths, user/SYSTEM processes and Foxit service readbacks confirmed removal. A command to open an owned test PDF was dispatched, but no rendered page was observed. The complete update check offered no Foxit update; this proves neither latest version nor an upgrade. Default-reader changes, document editing, external uninstall, recovery and the released Mole package were not tested.
