How to uninstall Format Factory on Windows
This check installed Format Factory 5.22.0.0 from the vendor's download page in a Windows 11 VM, opened it, then removed it with Mole. The installer was signed by Geshi Inc. The vendor's Chinese uninstall name appeared garbled in this VM, so the check used its original registry ID. Conversion jobs and a separate external uninstall were not tested.
Remove Format Factory
Close Format Factory, then select its row in Mole's Apps tab. The program folder and usage records were both selected by default in this check. Mole ran the registered %ProgramFiles(x86)%\FormatFactory\UnInstall.exe with /S; it reported Removed, and the program folder and uninstall registration disappeared.
Check the result
Test-Path "${env:ProgramFiles(x86)}\FormatFactory"
@(Get-CimInstance Win32_Process -ErrorAction Stop | Where-Object Name -eq 'FormatFactory.exe').Count
@(Get-ItemProperty 'HKLM:\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\*' -ErrorAction Stop | Where-Object { $_.Publisher -eq 'Geshi Inc.' -and $_.UninstallString -like '*\FormatFactory\UnInstall.exe' }).Count
This VM returned False, 0 and 0. An empty Local\FTMod folder and an empty HKCU\Software\FreeTime parent key remained; neither contained files, subkeys or values to remove. The 42 uninstall registration IDs present before installation matched the 42 after removal.
What Mole lists
This review contained only the program and usage records, both selected by default. The empty %LOCALAPPDATA%\FTMod folder and HKCU\Software\FreeTime parent key were not listed or removed.
What this test covered
Tested on October 5, 2026, in a Windows 11 ARM64 VM with a Mole development build, covering first launch and uninstall. Real conversion jobs, other installation channels and the released download were not verified. Automatic detection after an external uninstall was not verified.
