How to uninstall Feishu on Windows
Check recent messages and documents in Feishu on the web or another device, save any downloaded attachments separately and open them, and keep unsent drafts before you leave meetings and quit. Your messages and documents stay in your Feishu account; uninstalling does not delete the account. This guide covers the mainland China client installed per-user from the ByteDance.Feishu winget package. Lark, the international sibling app, is a separate product and should not be removed along with Feishu.
Quit Feishu first
Confirm your changes are visible on the web, then quit Feishu from its tray icon or window menu; closing the window can leave it running in the tray. Check Task Manager (Ctrl+Shift+Esc) for any Feishu.exe still listed before you uninstall.
Remove the app with its own uninstaller
Go to Settings › Apps › Installed apps, find Feishu, and choose Uninstall, or run:
winget uninstall --id ByteDance.Feishu
Feishu's uninstaller has no documented silent switch, but Mole runs it quietly; it may show a confirmation dialog once it finishes.
Where the data lives
| Location | What it holds | What to do |
|---|---|---|
%LOCALAPPDATA%\Feishu |
Program files and this account's local data together | Removed by the uninstaller; check for saved attachments first |
%APPDATA%\LarkShellSingleton |
A small lock file Feishu uses to keep one instance running | Removed by the uninstaller |
HKCU\SOFTWARE\Feishu |
Registry settings | Safe to remove |
| Desktop and Start Menu shortcuts | App shortcuts | Removed by the uninstaller |
If a downloaded attachment is missing later, check the local folder where you saved it; a reinstall will not recover it.
Check the result
Run these read-only commands after the uninstall finishes:
Get-Process Feishu -ErrorAction SilentlyContinue
winget list --id ByteDance.Feishu
Test-Path "$env:LOCALAPPDATA\Feishu"
- No output from
Get-Processonly means this query observed no matching process; a suppressed error leaves the running state unknown. A listed process means a window or the tray helper is still open. - A completed
winget listquery with no match means the package record is gone; a matching row means the uninstall did not finish. Test-PathreturningFalsemeans the folder that held Feishu's program and local data is gone;Truemeans files remain there.
If both Feishu and Lark are installed
Locate Feishu and Lark separately in Settings › Apps before choosing which one to remove; their names are similar but they are different packages. Removing Feishu does not touch anything Lark installed.
If you installed it with winget
winget uninstall runs the same uninstaller Settings › Apps uses and removes the same program files.
Account and sync
Removing the app does not sign you out of your Feishu account or delete messages and documents already synced there; they stay reachable from the web or another device.
What Mole lists
For Feishu installed per-user from winget:
%LOCALAPPDATA%\Feishurides on the app's own row and is selected by default, since the installer keeps the program and this account's data together in one folder.%APPDATA%\LarkShellSingleton, the Desktop shortcut and the Start Menu shortcut are selected by default.HKCU\SOFTWARE\Feishuis listed but not selected.
What this test covered
Tested with Feishu 8.1.17 installed through winget, per-user scope. A login entry the app had registered was gone once the uninstaller finished, without Mole's own review needing to remove it. Every listed row was ticked and removed in this test. Not verified: signed-in chat history and meetings.
