How to uninstall Evernote on Windows
This run covers Evernote 11.36.4 installed through elevated winget into the user profile, with publisher Bending Spoons US Inc. No account or real note was used. Preserve wanted local data before selecting its profile.
Close Evernote before uninstalling and keep a copy of any local data or settings you want to retain.
Remove the program
Find Evernote in Windows Settings under Installed apps and choose Uninstall. Mole invoked the registered NSIS uninstaller with /CurrentUser /S in this run; removal through Settings or external winget was not retested.
Check the result
Test-Path "$env:LOCALAPPDATA\Programs\Evernote"
Test-Path "$env:LOCALAPPDATA\evernote-client-updater"
Test-Path "$env:APPDATA\Evernote"
Test-Path "HKCU:\SOFTWARE\Classes\.enex"
The first three were False and.enex was True. Independent checks also found the exact uninstall registration and the en and evernote protocols absent. No residue was removed manually.
For your own check, a successful Test-Path query returns True when that specific path exists and False when it is absent. A query error leaves the result unresolved; neither result proves that every leftover is gone.
What Mole lists
The program, evernote-client-updater, owned shortcuts, verified en and evernote protocols, Evernote.Archive association, startup entry and usage records are selected by default. %APPDATA%\Evernote is listed but not selected by default; including app data includes this whole profile.
Cache, Code Cache, Crashpad, DawnGraphiteCache, DawnWebGPUCache, GPUCache and logs are separately selected by default. The whole profile is not a cache. The.enex extension registration remains and does not establish that the app is still installed.
What this test covered
Tested on October 4, 2026, in a Windows 11 ARM64 VM with a Mole development build, covering first launch and uninstall. Sign-in, sync or offline-note retention, other installation channels and the released download were not verified. Automatic detection after an external uninstall was not verified.
