How to uninstall electerm on Windows
electerm keeps your saved SSH, SFTP and other connection profiles in its own data folder, and removing the app does not clear them. Back that folder up first if you might reinstall. This guide covers electerm installed per-user from the electerm.electerm winget package. electerm
Quit electerm first
Close every electerm window and any open terminal sessions inside it, then check Task Manager (Ctrl+Shift+Esc) for any electerm process still listed before you uninstall.
Remove the app with its own uninstaller
Go to Settings › Apps › Installed apps, find electerm, and choose Uninstall, or run:
winget uninstall --id electerm.electerm
Back up before you remove data
Copy %APPDATA%\electerm before you clear it if you want to keep your saved connections and settings.
Where the data lives
| Location | What it holds | What to do |
|---|---|---|
%APPDATA%\electerm |
Saved connections, settings and the app's own caches | Back this up first; the uninstaller does not remove it |
%APPDATA%\electerm\Cache, Code Cache, DawnGraphiteCache, DawnWebGPUCache, GPUCache, logs |
Editor caches and logs | Safe to remove after quitting |
%LOCALAPPDATA%\electerm-updater |
Downloaded update installers | Safe to remove |
Check the result
Run these read-only commands after the uninstall finishes:
Get-Process electerm -ErrorAction SilentlyContinue
winget list --id electerm.electerm
Test-Path "$env:LOCALAPPDATA\Programs\electerm"
Test-Path "$env:APPDATA\electerm"
- No output from
Get-Processonly means this query observed no matching process; a suppressed error leaves the running state unknown. A listed process means a window or helper is still open. - A completed
winget listquery with no match means the package record is gone; a matching row means the uninstall did not finish. - The first
Test-PathreturningFalsemeans the program folder is gone;Truemeans files remain there. Test-Path "$env:APPDATA\electerm"returningTruemeans your saved connections and settings are still there, which is expected unless you removed them yourself.
If you installed it with winget
winget uninstall runs the same uninstaller Settings › Apps uses and removes the same program files; it does not touch %APPDATA%\electerm on its own.
What Mole lists
For electerm installed per-user from winget:
- The program folder, desktop shortcut and Start Menu shortcut are selected by default.
%LOCALAPPDATA%\electerm-updateris selected by default.%APPDATA%\electermis listed but not selected, since it holds your saved connections and settings; the caches and logs inside it are listed on their own and selected by default.- A
.vvfile-type association electerm registers is not part of this list, since other tools can share that extension.
What this test covered
Tested with electerm 5.5.35 installed through winget, per-user scope, on an ARM64 test VM. No saved connections were created during the test.
