How to uninstall EdrawMax on Windows
Before removing EdrawMax, save each diagram you need to a folder you control and open a copy to confirm it works. If you keep diagrams in an Edraw account, check that they are there online first. This guide covers EdrawMax 16.0.2.1593 (listed as Wondershare EdrawMax) installed machine-wide through winget, and other Wondershare or Edraw products are separate apps.
Quit EdrawMax
Close every EdrawMax window, then use Ctrl+Shift+Esc to check Task Manager; the test showed three EdrawMax.exe processes. EdrawMax added a startup entry named EdrawMaxTray (Settings › Apps › Startup), which disappeared after uninstalling.
Uninstall EdrawMax
Open Settings › Apps › Installed apps, select Wondershare EdrawMax and choose Uninstall; Windows 10 calls this page Apps & features. The registered uninstaller is Uninstaller.exe. The test used the registered quiet command (unins000.exe /SILENT) instead, so the prompts of the interactive window were not recorded.
For a winget installation:
winget uninstall --id EdrawSoft.EdrawMax --exact
winget runs the vendor's uninstaller. It does not back up diagrams or delete an Edraw account.
Locations observed in testing
| Location | What it holds | What to do |
|---|---|---|
%ProgramFiles(x86)%\EdrawSoft\EdrawMax |
The tested installation | Run the uninstaller first; check for surviving files afterward |
%ProgramData%\EdrawSoft\EdrawMax |
EdrawMax machine-wide data, empty in this run | Already gone after the uninstaller in this test |
%ProgramData%\Wondershare |
Wondershare machine-wide data, about 60 MB in this run | Keep it if you use another Wondershare product; otherwise review its contents before removing |
%LOCALAPPDATA%\Wondershare and %APPDATA%\Wondershare |
Wondershare user data (the Roaming folder was empty) | Same as above |
%LOCALAPPDATA%\Edraw\edrawmax |
Likely EdrawMax user data, still present after uninstalling | Inspect and back up what you need before removing it yourself |
%LOCALAPPDATA%\Edraw\edrawmax_addin and %ProgramData%\EdrawSoft\edrawmax_addin |
Add-in folders, still present after uninstalling | Another program may load them; check before removing |
HKCU\Software\Edraw\Edraw Helper Compact and HKCU\Software\edmax\edmax Helper Compact |
Helper keys whose values the test did not read | Export the exact key before any change |
HKCU\Software\Classes\SystemFileAssociations\.vsd and .vsdx |
Shared Visio file associations | Leave them |
The machine keys HKLM\SOFTWARE\EdrawSoft, HKLM\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\EdrawSoft and HKLM\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\edmax also remained. Leave vendor parents such as %ProgramData%\EdrawSoft and %LOCALAPPDATA%\Edraw in place, and remove only an exact leaf you have checked.
Check the result
winget list --id EdrawSoft.EdrawMax --exact
Test-Path -LiteralPath "${env:ProgramFiles(x86)}\EdrawSoft\EdrawMax" -ErrorAction Stop
Test-Path -LiteralPath "$env:LOCALAPPDATA\Edraw\edrawmax" -ErrorAction Stop
Test-Path -LiteralPath "$env:ProgramData\Wondershare" -ErrorAction Stop
A winget row means the package is still listed; empty output or a source error alone does not prove removal, so also check Installed apps. For each Test-Path, True means that folder exists, while False without an error means it does not. An access error leaves the result unknown. None of these commands checks your saved diagrams.
What Mole lists
With Remove data and settings with apps off, the test's rows are:
- The install folder, selected with the Application row.
%ProgramData%\EdrawSoft\EdrawMax,%ProgramData%\Wondershare,%LOCALAPPDATA%\Wondershareand%APPDATA%\Wondershare, each listed but not selected. Leave the Wondershare rows unticked if you use another Wondershare product.- The EdrawMax AI and Wondershare EdrawMax Start Menu shortcuts, selected by default.
- The
EdrawMaxTraystartup value, selected by default. - Usage records for the EdrawMax program path, selected by default.
Select all and Also remove data include the listed data rows. If the data-default preference is enabled, eligible app-owned AppData rows may start selected; ProgramData rows do not. Files Mole removes go to the Recycle Bin, and registry entries are exported to a .reg backup before removal.
All listed rows were selected in the test. Mole removed the usage records and the three Wondershare folders; the install folder, the shortcuts, the startup value and %ProgramData%\EdrawSoft\EdrawMax were already absent after the vendor uninstaller. %LOCALAPPDATA%\Edraw\edrawmax, the two add-in folders and the two helper keys are not listed; check them and remove them yourself after the uninstall if you no longer need them.
What this test covered
EdrawMax 16.0.2.1593 was installed machine-wide through winget and removed on October 21, 2026, in a Windows 11 ARM64 VM using a development build of Mole. The installer is Inno Setup and the uninstall ran silently. Saved diagrams, sign-in, cloud documents, updates and the downloadable Mole package were not verified.
