How to uninstall Double Commander on Windows
This guide covers the official Double Commander 1.2.9 x64 machine MSI installer.
Back up personal files first
Back up personal files and any configuration you need before uninstalling. File operations and configuration recovery were not tested.
Uninstall the app
Quit Double Commander, then uninstall it from Windows Settings. The measured program directory was C:\Program Files\Double Commander.
Check the result
Test-Path 'C:\Program Files\Double Commander'
Test-Path 'C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Double Commander'
Test-Path 'HKCU:\SOFTWARE\Double Commander'
All three paths independently returned False. A query error does not prove absence.
What Mole lists
The Start Menu shortcut is selected by default. The user settings key is an unchecked Review row, included in this test.
What this test covered
Tested on October 7, 2026, in a Windows 11 ARM64 VM with a source-built Mole. One vendor removal completed, and the two selected cleanup targets were Missing. The registration, program and successful user/SYSTEM process inventories confirmed removal with no app-owned snapshot residue. The real MSI icon, size, Status, Startup and review defaults were observed. The two file-manager panes stayed in the program directory; no files were changed. No applicable update was offered in the complete check, which proves neither latest version nor an upgrade. External uninstall, recovery and the released Mole package were not tested.
