How to uninstall CrystalDiskInfo on Windows
CrystalDiskInfo keeps its settings inside its own program folder rather than a separate data folder, so removing that folder removes everything it wrote. This guide covers CrystalDiskInfo installed machine-wide from the CrystalDewWorld.CrystalDiskInfo winget package.
Quit CrystalDiskInfo first
Close the CrystalDiskInfo window and check Task Manager (Ctrl+Shift+Esc) for DiskInfoA64.exe (or DiskInfo32.exe on a 32-bit system). In this test, the vendor's own uninstaller detected CrystalDiskInfo still running and stopped with a "currently running" message instead of continuing, so make sure it is fully closed before you uninstall.
Remove the app with its own uninstaller
Go to Settings › Apps › Installed apps, find CrystalDiskInfo, and choose Uninstall, or run:
winget uninstall --id CrystalDewWorld.CrystalDiskInfo
Where the data lives
| Location | What it holds | What to do |
|---|---|---|
Program Files\CrystalDiskInfo\DiskInfo.ini |
Its settings, written inside the program folder itself | No separate backup needed; it is removed together with the program folder |
CrystalDiskInfo has no separate settings folder under %APPDATA% or %LOCALAPPDATA%; everything it writes stays inside its own install folder.
Check the result
Run these read-only commands after the uninstall finishes:
Get-Process DiskInfoA64, DiskInfo32 -ErrorAction SilentlyContinue
winget list --id CrystalDewWorld.CrystalDiskInfo
Test-Path "$env:ProgramFiles\CrystalDiskInfo"
- No output from
Get-Processonly means this query observed no matching process; a suppressed error leaves the running state unknown. - A completed
winget listquery with no match means the package record is gone; a matching row means the uninstall did not finish. Test-PathreturningFalsemeans the program folder, and the settings file inside it, is gone;Truemeans files remain there, which usually means the app was still running when the uninstaller tried to remove it.
If you installed it with winget
winget uninstall runs the same Inno Setup uninstaller Settings › Apps uses and removes the same program folder; there is no separate data folder for it to leave behind.
What Mole lists
For CrystalDiskInfo installed machine-wide from winget:
- The program folder, the Desktop shortcut and the public Start Menu folder are selected by default. There is no separate settings folder to list, since CrystalDiskInfo keeps
DiskInfo.iniinside the program folder itself.
What this test covered
Tested with CrystalDiskInfo 9.9.2 installed through winget, machine scope, x86 Inno Setup package. The vendor's own uninstaller refused to continue twice while the app was still running before a manual close let it finish; quitting the app fully before you uninstall avoids this.
