How to uninstall Cluely on Windows
Cluely is an AI assistant you use with a Cluely account. Before you remove it, check in the app that the sessions and notes you want are still reachable from your account, and save any you need elsewhere; the local data folder holds the app's settings and caches, and the uninstaller leaves it in place. This guide covers Cluely installed per-user from the installer on cluely.com.
Quit Cluely first
Quit Cluely, then check Task Manager (Ctrl+Shift+Esc) that no Cluely.exe is still listed; it runs several of them at once. Cluely adds a startup entry named Cluely, which you can see in Settings › Apps › Startup.
Remove the app with its own uninstaller
Go to Settings › Apps › Installed apps, find Cluely, and choose Uninstall. The uninstaller removes the program files in %LOCALAPPDATA%\Programs\cluely-v2 and the shortcuts. In this test it left the startup entry pointing at the removed program, the cluely-v2:// link registration, the data folder and the downloaded updates.
Where the data lives
| Location | What it holds | What to do |
|---|---|---|
%APPDATA%\cluely-v2 |
App data, settings and caches | Keep it if you might reinstall; remove it for a clean start |
%LOCALAPPDATA%\cluely-v2-updater |
Downloaded update installers | Safe to remove |
The Cluely startup entry (HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run, value electron.app.Cluely) |
Starts the removed program at sign-in | Turn it off in Settings › Apps › Startup, or remove the value |
HKCU\Software\Classes\cluely-v2 |
The cluely-v2:// link registration |
Safe to remove once the app is gone |
Check the result
Run these read-only commands after the uninstall finishes:
Get-Process Cluely -ErrorAction SilentlyContinue
Test-Path "$env:LOCALAPPDATA\Programs\cluely-v2"
Test-Path "$env:APPDATA\cluely-v2"
Get-ItemProperty HKCU:\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run -Name electron.app.Cluely -ErrorAction SilentlyContinue
Test-Path HKCU:\Software\Classes\cluely-v2
- No output from
Get-Processonly means this query observed no matching process; a suppressed error leaves the running state unknown. A listed process means it is still open. - The first
Test-PathreturningFalsemeans the program folder is gone;Truemeans files remain there. Test-Path "$env:APPDATA\cluely-v2"returningTruemeans your settings and caches are still there, which is expected unless you removed them yourself.Get-ItemPropertyreturning values means the entry remains. With no output, check for permission or other query errors before deciding that it is absent.- The last
Test-PathreturningFalsemeans the link registration is gone;Truemeans it is still there.
Account and subscription
Uninstalling does not cancel a paid Cluely plan or delete your account and its history. Manage those in your Cluely account.
What Mole lists
For Cluely installed per-user from cluely.com:
- The program folder goes with the app row. The Start Menu and desktop shortcuts are selected by default.
%LOCALAPPDATA%\cluely-v2-updater, which holds only downloaded update installers, is selected by default.%APPDATA%\cluely-v2is listed but not selected, since it holds your settings. The caches inside it (Cache,Code Cache,GPUCache, the Dawn shader caches andlogs) are listed on their own and selected by default.- The
electron.app.Cluelystartup entry and thecluely-v2://link registration the uninstaller leaves behind are selected by default, each backed up to a.regfile before removal. - A row grouping Windows' own records of when you opened the program is selected by default.
What this test covered
Tested on 2026-09-29 with Cluely 2.0.198 from the installer on cluely.com, per-user scope, installed from an elevated session. The uninstaller is NSIS and ran silently. Every listed row was ticked and removed in this test. Not verified: signing in, and what a signed-in data folder holds.
